This PR makes a few small changes to the version checker:

on master installation replaces "vx.y.z-get-replaced-by-release-script" with "custom"
makes sure we show update notification only if the version is vA.B.C
if current version is not A.B.C (i.e. A.B.C-pre1 or "custom" or whatever) - stops version checker
