Comment Text Editor

Plugin Name: Comment Text Editor Plugin URI: https://github.com/danmaze/comment-text-editor/ Description: Adds functionality for submitting comments via AJAX and writing simple math on your website Version: 1.0.0 Author: Daniel Ihenetu License: GNU GPL v2.0 License URI: https://github.com/danmaze/comment-text-editor/blob/master/LICENSE.txt

Description

This was intented to be plugin that adds a WordPress WYSIWYG comment text editor based off of Tiny MCE. The plugin has been designed using Devin's WordPress plugin boilerplate (https://github.com/DevinVinson/WordPress-Plugin-Boilerplate). Unfortunately, I have been unable to find the time to properly implement the JS for handling replies and moving the editor around in the DOM. So, the good old textarea is left as is.

However, the most important addition to WordPress' default front-end comment functionality is the UI element that allows the addition of math to the comment text box. In addition, comments are submitted via AJAX. There will always be a better way to do something and this plugin sure needs lots of improvement, so feel free to customize and improve as you see fit. It might also be necessary to make changes to the CSS and public-facing side for the math editor to match your UI.

Installation

  • Clone or download ZIP archive file.
  • In your admin panel, go to Plugins and click the 'Add New' button.
  • Upload the archive file.
  • Install and activate.

All public-facing CSS and related UI code for the math editor are located in the public folder. Customize to taste.
