UMLS in OWL

• A tool to convert UMLS to OWL and RDF (using a simpler model) is available at https://code.google.com/p/umls2owl/.

• A preliminary version of UMLS in OWL is on the BioHackathon SPARQL endpoint and currently contains more than 17M triples.

• Licensing is a problem. The RDF or OWL form of UMLS cannot be shared, but the script to generate it can!

• Conversion to RDF is not complete; missing parts that would be nice to have are links to original resources (and the corresponding URIs), inclusion of provenance, etc.
