Introduction:

This project is a stretch goal for the budget outlined in: https://proposals.decred.org/proposals/1dc1571

This project is a secondary Motion Design priority and needs the consent of other contractors contributing to Visual Comms if it is to be financed within this current budget period under "Requests support".

If after outlining the task at hand the estimated sum exceeds the budget outlined for this current budget period then this work would be a suitable candidate for:

  • An independent Pi proposal
  • Inclusion in the next Design Domain Budget

Background:
Extending on prior discussion with Decred content creator Exitus it is proposed that a custom Motion Graphic Template Library is created in order to maintain continuity of assets and draw closer alignment of current Decred brand identity elements and those utilised in-video.

Specifically Exitus seeks: " to develop a more concrete motion graphics/design direction" for the bi-weekly Youtube programmes that he currently produces under his approved Pi proposal:https://proposals.decred.org/proposals/95cfb73

This issue is still in a preliminary stage as requires all documentation listed below as well as further dialogue with Exitus as well as canvassing of community input.

Context:
There have been many templates created in the past with the intention of supporting content creations that produce long term content for the project.

  • EDU.DCR
  • Decred Assembly
  • Decred Roundtable

Many of these have been left absent as contributors have moved onto other activities within the project. This wasn’t helped by the general lack of key skills in Adobe’s Production suite expected to interact with previously designed tools.

With the advent of Politeia there is now a contractual obligation to create content by proposal holders that gives more certainty over usage of created assets to designers.

Exitus has proven his ability to create and curate content in a consistent manner that is well received by the DCR community. Importantly; Exitus has the necessary skills that warrant any work on templates an investment that can be utilised.

Therefore I have raised this issue with the ambition of supporting Exitus’s efforts.

  • Any custom background loops are to be provided as .MP4 (H.264) for usage where appropriate.

Sound Design:

Given the constraints of the current budget I would like to keep expenditure here as lean as possible.

Decred Bi-weekly is a Decred focused community news program operating in the intersection of finance, technology and current affairs.

Core influence could be derived from the likes of Ben Prunty's score for the documentary Banking on Bitcoin who fusion of progressive soulless scores provide the perfect backdrop for meaningful discussion.

My suggestion for the fulfilment of Sound Design requirements for this project would be a track such as Palo-Alto from vendor Premiumbeat.com.

Palo-Alto
https://www.premiumbeat.com/royalty-free-tracks/palo-alto

Licence Agreement:
https://www.premiumbeat.com/music-agreement

Which would cost the grand total of: $49USD.

  • Royalty Free Licence that would cover required usage.
  • Cost Effective for the DCR Stakeholder.
  • Reinforces "Vision".
  • No time resource cost
  • Offers flexibility to the content creator.
  • Can be replaced (if necessary) in the future.

Bi-weekly Watermark:
exitusWatermark
[VERSION 1] A simple watermark template for the Decred Bi-weekly video series.

You can change a configuration of show name presets as well as chose your own custom name using "Custom Text".

Transitions has a number of transition presets you can use to create bridged elements.

Hold [OVERRIDE] allows you to hold certain elements to create more sophisticated transitions.

Bi-weekly Price:
exitusPrice
exitusPrice_1
[VERSION 1] A simple template for relaying price action, risk disclaimers as well as other information such as information sources.

Price contains easily changeable variables that can be overlaid during the show to fill space.

Percentage Color can be checked if you wish to utilize Green/Orange color logic.

Callout contains a very simple interface with a Header and Message input.

Bi-weekly Quick Vignette:
exitusQuickVignette
[VERSION 1] A simple vignette to offer contrast to elements to the side of the screen.

You can change the color of the vignette using the color menu and adjust the strength of the vignette using the Expansion Adjustment.

There are also a number of basic Transitions available.

Finally there is a Linear Wipe available that allows you to taper and feather the layer further.

Bi-weekly Name:
exitusName
[VERSION 1] A simple lower thirds Name template for use on presenter and guests. Additional usage may be apropriate when creating "Subscribe" as well as various other callouts.

  • The template supports a few standard transitions as well as a full sequence for "fire and forget" usage.
  • Take care when using colour combinations as this doesn't auto-correct to contrast.
  • Background Check option toggles the opacity of the background elements.

Animate in and transitions can be use in conjunction with hold checkboxes to create extended elements that highlight (for instance) Name, Occupation and Twitterhandle.

exitusNews
[VERSION 1] A simple lower thirds template for News articles.

Where applicable you can adjust the size of the news item box using the Background [OVERRIDES] Option.
