How to install OptiFine

Method 1. Installing profile.

0. Head to FreeLauncher and do a first run of the version you want to install OptiFine for.
1. Head to http://optifine.net/downloads.
2. Download an installer of prefered version.
3. Launch the installation. Wait until installer finishes installing OptiFine.
   • Specify Minecraft directory if needed, click Install.
4. Head to FreeLauncher.
   • You can use profile named OptiFine to run the game with OptiFine. If you don't want to use your own profile, then you can finish your installation here.
5. Select your prefered profile and click Edit profile.
6. Enable third-party versions. Select release {game's version}-OptiFine_{mod's version}.
7. Now you should be able to launch a game with OptiFine.

Notes.

DO NOT FOGET TO ENABLE THIRD-PARTY VERSIONS!

Method 2. Installing OptiFine as a mod for Minecraft Forge.

0. Head to FreeLauncher and do a first run of the version you want to install OptiFine for.
1. Install Minecraft Forge.
2. Head to http://optifine.net/downloads.
3. Download an installer of prefered version.
4. Launch the installer. Click Extract and select /mods/ or /mods/{game's version}/ as an extraction point.
5. Head to FreeLauncher.
6. Launch the game with Minecraft Forge. OptiFine will be loaded as a mod.
