Ref denoland/deno#4582 (comment), #89, #40

Problems with ~/.local/bin:

  • Hard to uninstall Deno along with deno installed addons.
  • Not as conventional.

How is the standard location for binaries "not as conventional"? This is such a step back from the previous situation because it clutters up people's home directories and their shell configuration files/$PATH variable.

A lot of work has gone into moving away from this and towards the XDG default directories in recent years across most projects. The XDG directories also have the advantage of being user configurable through environment variables.

@nayeemrmn Could you expand on the issues you ran into with using the standard paths?
