About Me

Hi I’m Ryan, a software engineer, designer and photographer. I have a long history with being involved with coding, starting when I was about 11 yrs old. A friend introduced me to QBasic and the help docs so with nothing but time on my hands I started making my own games and apps. From there I moved on to Visual Basic 3.0 and was able to make a couple of apps for family members.

Over the past few years I kept dipping my toes back into coding as something to do for fun and after I realized that I wanted to learn the concepts seriously I decided to quit my job and enroll (and graduate!) from a coding bootcamp, Flatiron School.

I love working with React, Javascript, Ruby, and Ruby on Rails. I'm passionate about photography and design and truly believe that learning never stops.

Currently Working On

  • Joberino - A local job scraper that pulls from job sites within the last 24hrs so you can stay on top of unique job postings day to day. Hide jobs you don't want and hides all Senior level jobs. Feel free to fork / clone and make PR's!

Deployed Projects

  • Wax Chromatics - A vinyl record collection site built in React w/a Rails API backend
  • Text-Ray - A Javascript Spelling Bee game using a Rails API backend
  • GTA Micro-manager - A small timer app to keep track of when to sell 'product' in GTA V: Online
  • Awesome-Reads - A Ruby on Rails CRUD app that lets you write reviews on books

Pinned

  1. [RAILS API] local job scraper that keeps you up to date with all the recent job postings. Rails API scrapes a few sites to get your results. Fork / Clone and make PRs!

    Ruby 2

  2. [REACT.JS] Front-end for my vinyl collection site. I used Semantic UI as it feels quick and light weight with a lot of useful basic components. Needs work on mobile devices.

    JavaScript

  3. [JAVASCRIPT / CSS] The core of this game is based on NY Times Spelling Bee game. Uses Dictionary.com API to check validity of word on game creation.

    JavaScript

  4. [JAVASCRIPT] A tool to micro manage your time in Grand Theft Auto V Online. Roughly keeps track of when you're producing product. It's not perfect but gives you a good idea.

    HTML

  5. [RUBY / RAILS] This is a simple CRUD app that lets users review a book, view books by author, reviews by user, search for books, and leave a rating. Bootstrap was used as well.

    Ruby 1

  6. [RUBY] A Command Line real time play by play scoreboard for NBA games. Initially built right before the NBA season stopped. I think the API endpoints have changed so it may not work post bubble life.
