Accessing the PVR Settings

  • From the Kodi Add-ons browser, select My add-ons
  • Select PVR clients
  • Select HDHomeRun DVR PVR Client
  • Select Configure

General

Configures general PVR behavior settings

Setting Description Default
Pause discovery tasks while streaming When set to ON the PVR will disable all discovery tasks while a Live TV or Recorded TV stream is in progress. OFF
Trigger recording discovery immediately after playback When set to ON a Recording discovery will be initiated immediately after any Live TV or Recorded TV stream has ended. OFF
Show DRM protected channels in channel lineups When set to ON channels marked as DRM-protected by the HDHomeRun tuner device(s) will still be listed in the Kodi channel lineups. OFF
Disable backend channel logo images When set to ON the channel logo images provided by the backend will not be made available to Kodi. OFF
Delete expired date/time recording rules after Specifies the age at which an expired date/time recording rule (timer rule) will be automatically deleted. Set to Never to disable this functionality. 1 Day

Interface

Configures PVR interface settings

Setting Description Default
Prepend channel numbers to channel names When set to ON the channel number will be prepended to the channel name when reported to Kodi. For example channel 511 WBALDT would become 511 WBALDT. OFF
Use season/episode number as title for recordings When set to ON the title for recordings will be replaced with the season and episode number when available. For example The Blacklist (Zarak Mosadek) would become S05E18 (Zarak Mosadek). OFF
Use backend genre string(s) in Electronic Program Guide (EPG) When set to ON the EPG genre string(s) will be set to the string(s) provided by the backend instead of attempting to map them into Kodi-specific genres. Enabling this option will also disable Kodi's ability to color-code the EPG listings. OFF
Preferred channel name format Specifies the preferred format of the channel names reported to Kodi. When the selected format is not available a fallback format will be selected automatically. XMLTV station
Disable specialized Recorded TV category folders When set to ON Recorded TV episodes with specialized category names (Movies, News, Specials, Sporting Events, etc.) will not be grouped into folders corresponding to those specialized category names. OFF
Append repeat indicators to applicable episode names 1 When set to ON repeat indicators will be appended to episode names for recordings and EPG listings if the episode aired more than 24 hours after its original air date. OFF
Append repeat indicators to applicable recording names 2 When set to ON repeat indicators will be appended to recording episode names if the recording is not flagged as the first airing. OFF
Use Original Air Date timestamp for Recorded TV programs When set to ON the timestamp reported for Recorded TV programs will be set to the Original Air Date timestamp instead of the recording timestamp. OFF
Report actual start and end times for upcoming timers When set to ON any specified reording rule (Kodi Timer Rule) start and end time padding will be applied to recording rule episodes (Kodi Timers). OFF

Discovery Intervals

Specifies the amount of time between refreshes of the PVR data

Devices Specifies the interval between re-discovery of the HDHomeRun tuner and HDHomeRun RECORD device(s) on the local network. 10 Minutes
Channel Lineups Specifies the interval between re-discovery of available channel lineups from previously discovered HDHomeRun tuner device(s). 45 Minutes
Recordings Specifies the interval between re-discovery of available recordings from previously discovered HDHomeRun RECORD device(s). 10 Minutes
Recording Rules Specifies the interval between re-discovery of available recording rules (Kodi Timer Rules) from the HDHomeRun backend services. 2 Hours
Recording Rule Episodes Specifies the interval between re-discovery of available recording rule episodes (Kodi Timers) from the HDHomeRun backend services. 2 Hours

EDL

Configures Edit Decision List support

Setting Description Default
Enable Edit Decision List (EDL) support for Recorded TV Enables support for detection of Comskip Edit Decision List (EDL) files. OFF
EDL file path Specifies the base path to search for Recorded TV Edit Decision List (EDL) files. NOT SPECIFIED
Use simplified (flattened) file hierarchy When set to ON only the base path will be searched for Edit Decision List (EDL) files. When set to OFF Edit Decision List (EDL) files must be located in a subdirectory that matches the series name as displayed in Kodi. OFF
Report CUT indicators as COMBREAK indicators When set to ON Edit Decision List (EDL) CUT indicators will be treated as COMSKIP indicators. OFF
CUT indicator start time padding Specifies the amount of time to artificially add to each entry present in the Edit Decision List (EDL) file. 0
CUT indicator end time padding Specifies the amount of time to artificially subtract from each entry present in the Edit Decision List (EDL) file. 0

Radio Channels

Configures Radio Channel mapping support

Setting Description Default
Enable Radio channel mappings When set to ON any channel numbers/ranges specified in the Radio channel mapping file will be moved from TV to Radio in Kodi. OFF
Radio channel mapping file Specifies the path to the Radio channel mapping file. This is a text file that lists either individual channel numbers ("4.1", "1800") or a range of channel numbers ("4.1-4.3", "1800-1899") to be moved from TV to Radio in Kodi. List one channel number or one channel range in each line of the file. NOT SPECIFIED
Suppress video streams during playback When set to ON any video streams associated with a mapped Radio channel will be suppressed during playback. OFF

Advanced

Configures advanced PVR settings

Setting Description Default
Use HTTP cloud-based device discovery When set to ON the PVR will use the cloud-based backend to discover available HDHomeRun devices instead of a UDP broadcast on the local network. OFF
Stream Live TV channels directly from tuner device(s) 1 When set to ON Live TV channels will be streamed directly from an available HDHomeRun tuner device instead of the HDHomeRun RECORD device. Enabling this option will also disable Kodi's ability to perform seek operations. OFF
Preferred tuner streaming protocol Specifies the preferred network protocol to use when streaming directly from HDHomeRun tuner device(s). When set to HTTP the modern HDHomeRun streaming protocol will be used. When set to RTP/UDP the legacy HDHomeRun streaming protocol will be used. HTTP
Disable blocking of DRM protected channel streams When set to ON channels marked as DRM protected by the HDHomeRun tuner device(s) will not be blocked from playback attempts. OFF
DVR stream read operation minimum size Specifies the amount of data Kodi will request as a single chunk of Live TV or Recorded TV streams. 4 KiB
Invalidate tuner device authorization codes after Specifies the amount of time after which cached HDHomeRun tuner device authorization strings will be considered invalid. 20 Hours

1 HDHomeRun "Demo" channels, when available, are always streamed directly from the HDHomeRun tuner device(s), this option has no effect for those channels
