Description

Suggestion to name small Dogecoin fractions.

Motivation and Context

The current value of a Dogecoin is so high that fractions are often needed to describe useful values.
I did not found a 'official' way to describe Dogecoin values under 1 that are not fraction values.
A approach like the Bitcoin satoshi would be to small thats why I suggest to use two naming steps:

  • Dogebar (like goldbar) for 0.001 Dogecoin
  • Dogediamonds (like diamonds) for 0.000001 Dogecoin

For smaller values can the metric system naming be used: 0.00000001 = 1 Dogediamondcent

Another benifit would be, that every Dogecoin owner will also be a (Dogediamonds) millionaire ;-).

It would definitely a good think to define names that can be used, this both names are just my suggestion.

I hope that a Pull Request is okay. I was unsure how to start this topic.

Best Regards

How about "Bones"?

The more or less official term for the smallest fraction of a Dogecoin is koinu. It's a play on the Japanese word for puppy (子犬 == koinu ) and the English "coin". I haven't seen these fractions in between really widely used though 🤔

I think that like the term 'coin' the other words should have the origin as some kind of monetary medium. Other possible variants are Dogenickel or using the metric system 0,02 Dogcoin as 0,02 Dogecent or 20 Millidoge.
My sugestion uses just the terms in inverse value order: Coin > Bar > Diamond.

The smallest fraction is to small to be usefull. How can you describe the space between?

It is currently not needed. But let's say that Dogecoin has a value like 10$ und you want to buy something for 50 cent with Dogecoin. How do you say 0,005 Dogecoin? 5 Millidoge, 5 Dogebar, 500000000 koinu?
