Using an SMS backup file, this program can create more readable backups and an excel file with detailed statistics/charts based off of the messages with each contact. Developed using Java and utilized an API.
This will only work with Android phones and using the SMS Backup & Restore app. Follow the instructions in the app to get the backup file and leave settings at default. It can be automatically uploaded to Google Drive for easy download to your computer. Then you can run SMSAnalyzer.jar. Instructions with either appear in dialog boxes or at the top of file explorers.
Note that this app will not consider any MMS messages (any media or text messages attached to media, nor any group chats).
