Asynchronous REST tasks

Hello,

I am currently using Drogon to implement a REST API.
One of the API endpoint (/process) receives a mime/multipart payload but the processing of the payload takes a long time.
I cannot block the connection for several minutes. So the processing needs to be deferred and transfered to an internal queue.
I then have another REST endpoint to poll for the completion of the task.

My question is : how to do it properly and safely ?
Currently my code does:

on /process request:

• parse multipart data
• move the parsed data instance (drogon::MultiPartParser) to an internal queue for later processing
• returns an uuid for client polling

Is it safe to do so ?

I checked the drogon::MultiPartParser code and it retains a copy of the drogon::HttpRequest shared pointer so I assume the parsed data is valid as long as the drogon::MultiPartParser instance is kept alive in my internal queue.

Yes, you're right, both the MultiPartParser and the parsed result keep the Request shared pointer, so you can do this safely.
