📱 HACKTOBERFEST 2023 GDSC GTBIT - App Dev 📱

What is Hacktoberfest?

Hacktoberfest is the easiest way to get into open source! Hacktoberfest is a month long celebration of open source code presented by Digital Ocean.

During the entire month, all you have to do is contribute to any open source project with the hacktoberfest tag and open at least 4 pull requests which follow the Hacktoberfest guidelines. It can be any project mentioned below and you can contribute in any way possible. It can be a be a bug fix, optimisation, feature addition or even a documentation enhancement!

If you’ve never contributed to open source before, this is the perfect time to get started because Hacktoberfest provides a large list of available contribution opportunities.

CONTRIBUTING

We welcome first time contributors and open source enthusiasts. Check out our issues and if you are willing to start with something simple check issues marked with the good-first-issue tag.

🛠️ Workflow 🛠️

  • Check Contribution Guidelines.
  • Check for Open ( Unassigned ) Issue, If you are able to do the particular task then ask for an assignment ( Help will be provided by mentors to get the task done if you are stuck at someplace )
  • Start work only on the issue which is assigned to you.
  • After Completion of work Open a Pull Request with a template provided.
  • Mentor will review it and let you know if any changes are required and get it merged.
  • Only the existing issues can be worked upon, contributors are not allowed to open any issues of their own.
  • After this your commit will be merged into our repository.
  • Do-Follow Code of Conduct.

To start contributing, follow the below guidelines:

0. Take a look at the existing issues. Wait for the Issue to be assigned to you after which you can start working on it.

1. Fork this repository.

2. Clone your forked copy of the project.

git clone --depth 1 https://github.com/<your_user_name>/HACKTOBERFEST21-GTBIT-WEBDEV.git

3. Navigate to the project directory 📁 .

cd OneEducationalWebsiteForAll

4. Add a reference(remote) to the original repository.

git remote add upstream https://github.com/dsc-gtbit/HacktoberFest-23-AppDev.git

5. Check the remotes for this repository.

git remote -v

6. Always take a pull from the upstream repository to your master branch to keep it at par with the main project(updated repository).

git pull upstream master

7. Create a new branch.

git checkout -b <your_branch_name>

8. Perform your desired changes to the code base.

9. Track your changes:heavy_check_mark: .

git add .

10. Commit your changes .

git commit -m "Relevant message"

11. Push the committed changes in your feature branch to your remote repo.

git push -u origin <your_branch_name>

12. To create a pull request, click on compare and pull requests. Please ensure you compare your feature branch to the desired branch of the repo you are supposed to make a PR to.

13. Add an appropriate title and description to your pull request explaining your changes and efforts done.

14. Click on Create Pull Request.

15. Voila ❗ You have made a PR to the Akshima-Ghai/OneEducationalWebsiteForAll project 💥 . Sit back patiently and relax while the project maintainers review your PR. Please understand, at times the time taken to review a PR can vary from a few hours to a few days.
