the following post appears to have no To:, CC:, or client markers. However, in my activity view, they show up. i expected it to show up in both places.

the following is a test in pumpa, which may be a pumpa-related issue, but i think it may depend on the above quirk.

i opened that note in pumpa in its own "Context" tab. if i tried replying to the root post, then the suggested To: and CC: fields were blank. The suggested reply targets i got by clicking to comment on the next three comments were good. however, starting with stephen's comment, i only had him as a reply target. (it was missing Public and Followers.) the next comment recommended nothing, and the one after that recommended all three targets, since i had manually added them while composing that particular comment.

i didn't see a way for dianara or the web client to show who is being replied to when writing a comment, so i couldn't test those clients.

i've also spotted some others: [1], [2] and [3] by searching around somewhat randomly. i thought i saw one a while ago that didn't have this problem, but might have been looking at an activity stream.

The recipients are a property of the activity, not the object. Now, the ability to find the post which triggered the object would be a useful feature

here is the pumpa side of the discussion.

Yes, as @oshepherd says, the recipients are never part of the object, but the activity that posted it. This is a problem for Pumpa when the original posting activity is not available, since it copies the recipients manually when replying in order to implement the ability to add new recipients (e.g. when replying to another commenter).
