Availability

A small initial run of samplers is in production (2021-01-29), but all are now spoken for by people who've expressed interest in buying one. Expressions of interest have come via YouTube, Instagram, GitHub and Twitter. Demand outstripped supply so if anyone on the list changes their mind, their opportunity to buy a sampler will be passed on to the first person on the overflow list, and so on. If there are still any spares after both those lists are exhausted, I will announce their availability on Twitter, Instagram, and here as a GitHub Issue.

Production is a one-person process and manufacturing each sampler involves a 4 hour 3D printing session, sanding and finishing of the case by hand, soldering and assembly of the components, testing in the Teensy rig, then finally testing in a real Amiga. I work full time (and currently have to homeschool my kids) so this is not a speedy, professional operation! I run prints or solder boards at home whenever I can find the time and it's unlikely that I'll do another production run in the near future.

So apologies in advance if you haven't been able to get one! I hope that - if there's enough demand - some members of the community will club together to bulk buy some PCBs, perhaps help each other out with 3D prints or assembly depending on their skills, and get the samplers into the hands of people who want to use them. In the long term I also hope some of the established Amiga and retro computing online shops will consider manufacturing their own (OAS is open source, after all), and while I can't force them to keep prices low, I hope they'll take the opportunity to charge way less than the ridiculous prices old samplers are fetching on eBay.
