So you've downloaded uTorrent Notifier and you're excited about getting awesome notifications, but you don't know how to set it up! Fear not, it's easy! Just follow the directions below:

Step 1 - Configuring uTorrent's WebUI

The first step is to configure uTorrent's WebUI. The WebUI is just an HTML frontend for uTorrent and is need by uTorrent Notifier to connect to uTorrent. It can be easily enabled by opening uTorrent and going to Preferences -> Advanced -> WebUI.

  1. Enable WebUI
  2. Change port to 80
  3. Enter a username and password (uTorrent Notifier will need this to connect)

Test it by going to http://localhost/gui. You should see all your torrents and everything in a pretty HTML frontend.

(For more information about setting up the WebUI, visit http://www.utorrent.com/help/guides/webui)

Step 2 - Configuring uTorrent Notifier

Now that you have the WebUI configured, the next step is to configure uTorrent Notifier so that it can connect to uTorrent's WebUI:

  1. Start up uTorrent Notifier. If the main window does not show up, right click on it's system tray icon and click "Settings".
  2. For the WebUI URL, enter "http://localhost/gui" (unless you're connecting to uTorrent on another computer)
  3. For the username and password, enter the username and password you configured in step 1.

Now click save. If uTorrent Notifier can't connect, an error message will appear in the system tray, otherwise everything should be good to go!

You can now configure the various notification services that you wish to use (Prowl, Growl, Twitter, Boxcar, etc.).
