would these be a viable source for finishing the compensated defn's? #1

... they seem to provide the worked out math.

That said, some of the code seems to be pretty darn intricate.

this paper http://web.mit.edu/tabbott/Public/quaddouble-debian/qd-2.3.4-old/docs/qd.pdf might be a better starting point perhaps... papers tend to not have as much license cooties for porting ideas -> code

on the flip side, looks like that code in that dir of Tabbot's page is BSD licensed

ok, found the source of it all http://crd-legacy.lbl.gov/~dhbailey/mpdist/
its all the standard bsd 3, though they make it sound like its not (at least from my quick look)

Hells yeah! I'm planning to do a bunch of mathy Hackery over a much needed
two week vacation the second half of this month, so that'd be awesome.
