Would be great to have a way to generate Pareto charts from bar charts

Ideally the cummulative % line is optional.

Even if not available I can deal without the cummulative % line.

This chart is actually possible in elastic-charts, so I passed the ball to the Lens team for a decision on that chart type.

Most of the building blocks for this are already done or in progress, the ones we are missing for now is overall metrics #94597 and specifying grouping for existing calculations #94609

I will leave this issue up because I think it's a nice use case and maybe we should provide a shortcut to it in some way - it would be a cool use case for a suggestion.

@roberto-formulatrix it looks like without the cumulative percentage line this is just a regular bar chart which should be possible already, what are you missing exactly?

We will not provide a shortcut in the UI for this, but once #94609 is implemented this can be built manually with a formula using cumulative sum and overall sum

Update: Right now we plan on accounting for the pareto line with text-based query languages as its own layer given that we feel #94789 is best served by a query language and not custom formula

Closing this because it's not planned to be resolved in the foreseeable future. It will be tracked in our Icebox and will be re-opened if our priorities change. Feel free to re-open if you think it should be melted sooner.
