It was determined that this is an issue with Riot iOS and not the SDK.

Have this issues across all our devices.. Otherwise, the app is fantastic..

Thank you for confirming. If 100% of users have this issue, I'm not sure how it's not a top priority. It gives people the impression that it's beta software :/

These two reports are the only ones I've heard of this happening - other than for a brief period in November when I believe there was a bug which was subsequently fixed. If you're still seeing it in 0.6.8, please rageshake so we can see what's going on. thanks!

It seems that this issue is only (at least for us) happening to rooms/people where we have set the icon within our server.. I have several rooms that come from other servers and these display the proper icon.. If I create a chat with another user from another server and I change the icon, it immediately becomes the icon that is wrongly being applied to all the rooms, as soon as I remove it or the users on the other server changes it, it shows properly..

i vaguely remember this turning out to be a temporary synapse bug. what version synapse is this? if you're not on 0.26, please upgrade.

Ok.. so we have updated to the newest synapse 0.26.. relaunch the iOS app, clear cache on the app.. still having the same problem..

Just going to add on to this to make it clear: The issue only appears on iOS (perhaps Android too but I've only used riot on iOS).

When I am on the web app, it's fine.

This may or may not be related, but image thumbnails are recycled, as well. I haven’t seen this occur with the web client, either. We are running the latest Synapse version.

another update.. Still having this issue AND, as 'lordnothing' mentioned above.. I have see the thumbnails for images in rooms and chat recycling; meaning that an image that i sent last week will be the thumbnail for the image i sent today.. If I open the image it shows the correct image.

Fixed it was an issue in the media cache handling.
