Prerequisites

  • I have searched for similar issues in both open and closed tickets and cannot find a duplicate.
  • The issue still exists against the latest stable version of Elementor.

Description

Hi,
We use Pods to add custom field for Taxonomy (Image, Text, etc..). When we create Archive Template for Taxonomy, Template don't return the data of custom field. We only get value of custom field created by Pods by shortcode or Pods Widget.

The bug don't happen with ACF.

Please check and fix. Thanks

Steps to reproduce

  1. Install Pods Plugin
  2. Create Custom Field for Post Category (Extend Post Category Taxonomy).
  3. Image Custom Field for Post Category, "Category Foo Image". Plain Text Custom Field for Post Category.
  4. Create Post Archive Template from Theme Builder.
  5. Add Image Widget, Select Image Pods Field from Dynamic Tag => Don't return image from Elementor Editor and Frontend.
  6. Add Heading Widget, Select Plain Text Pods Field from Dynamic Tag => Don't return Text from Elementor Editor and Frontend.
  7. User Shortcode / Pods Wiget => Return value.

Isolating the problem

  • This bug happens with only Elementor plugin active (and Elementor Pro).
  • This bug happens with a Blank WordPress theme active (Hello theme).
  • I can reproduce this bug consistently using the steps above.

System Info

I used:

PHP: 8.0.x
WordPress: 6.1.1
Elementor: 3.9.1
Elementor Pro: 3.9.1
Pods 2.9.10.2

Hi @nicholaszein ,
Thanks for your help and reply ❤️.
In which version will this bug be fixed?
Because this bug has happened in many previous versions, I only have time to report it now. I use Pods Framework for many websites.

any news on this bug ? I have the same problem with pods and elementor pro on gallery. I found a different solution for images and galleries that works by using dynamic content for elementor plugin but still having some other issues. Would be good for this bug to be solved so there is no need for extra plugins.

Hi, I think we need wait for Pods 3.0 release.
In Pods 3.0 PHP support/required will drop PHP 5.x and required PHP 7.2.

Thanks for your reply. It is my first time using pods and combining it with elementor pro it's very powerful and can create almost any custom website you might need with not a lot of coding knowledge. Hope this issues are going to be solved soon. Looking forward to 3.0 update!

Hi, @nicholaszein
Pods Framework update to v3.0.1 with "New minimum PHP version required: PHP 7.2+ (previously: PHP 5.6+)"
Elementor update to 3.16.3 / pro: 3.16.1
But the issue still have. We use Pods Framework with Elementor for many websites. Pods Framework work good. With Pods we create websites with custom data flexible, easy more than ACF. And it's Free.

Please fix this issue and the related issue too:

Please help us solve the image fields problem in the archives. In posts and pages they work well but in archives they just don't work. The developers of Pods claim that this problem is up to you.
We look forward to your response.
