How to inform Google style guide via vale that a word (or words) are a proper noun?

Hey all!

I have a situation where this keeps happening:

While 99% of the time I appreciate this rule, there are cases where I need to use proper nouns for titles (in this case, Community Leaders is a title in this semi-legal agreement).

My question is - how can I configure Vale to tell the Google Style to ignore this particular phrase for the Google.Headings rule? Is there a way to ignore it globally? This document uses this phrase fairly frequently, so setting an ignore comment isn't really a way to go for me, as I do want the headings to be checked for proper styling, still.

What is the optimal way to go about solving this? I'm open to all ideas - including adding my own style guide (if that's the right way), doing something with Vocab (although I don't think that would apply here?), or a more creative ignore that I can't think of.

I think an ideal state for me would be something where I can create a list of phrases to be ignored across all style rules so-long as they match exactly. Similar to the accept.txt file for Vocab, but across all rules.

To disable the Google.Headings style, add the following line to your vale.ini file:

Google.Headings = NO

If you want that style on in most cases, you can instead use markup-based directives to turn Vale off and on, or to enable/diable specific styles. See https://vale.sh/docs/topics/config/#markdown-amp-html

This is how vocabularies are intended to work. If you have "Community Leader" in your accept.txt, you shouldn't see an alert anymore.

Turns out I had vocabularies in the wrong directory - I didn't realize it had to be in the styles folder. Thanks all!

Hey all,

So the problem wasn't as cut and dry as I had thought, unfortunately. I'm not sure if the issue lays with Vale or the Google style guide, but I have a ticket open there, since the specific issues are coming from that Style. That said, I'm seeing issues with how TokenIgnores are applied, too, which is making me start to think this is a more broad issue with Vale. I get inconsistent results running Vale locally than from GitHub workflows, and even from vale run to vale run, as described here:
