US English spelling seems OK with en_GB spelling?

I have been testing spelling in Vale. My aim is to set up spelling for en_GB and disable en_US. However I am struggling to get something working consistently.

So I've gone back to basics.

Vale 3.4.2 running on Debian ARM Linux

.vale.ini file

StylesPath = styles

MinAlertLevel = suggestion

BasedOnStyles = Vale

The styles directory is empty

When I run Vale the UK spelling of favour is not flagged as a spelling error.

 test.md
 7:1  error  Did you really mean 'favoor'?  Vale.Spelling

✖ 1 error, 0 warnings and 0 suggestions in 1 file.

Why is that?

Both variations of the word are present in Vale's default dictionary. If you want a more strict experience, you can provide a custom dictionary.
