Australian Women’s Register Open Dataset
This dataset contains information about Australian women (living and deceased) and the organisations they were involved with, with reference to archival and bibliographical data about them. The dataset also contains records about photographs of women and themes that have been researched (such as rural women). There are currently (as at August 2016) 6183 entries (women, organisations, concepts, artefacts) with references to 3008 archival resources, 7171 published resources and 914 digital resources, such as photographs and sound files.
The Australian Women’s Register data is structured in the Encoded Archival Context for Corporate Bodies, Persons, and Families EAC-CPF XML format, with a few extensions specific to the Online Heritage Resource Manager(OHRM). This data may also be accessed via the Open Archives Initiative Protocol for Metadata Harvesting at http://oai.esrc.unimelb.edu.au/AWAP/.
This dataset has been produced by the University of Melbourne's eScholarship Research Centre, together with Australian Women’s Register staff Helen Morgan and Nikki Henningham http://www.womenaustralia.info from the University of Melbourne.
