Here are some follow-up changes to documentation as discussed in #27.
With this PR the syntax used to highlight inline code is consistent in all Markdown files. Often instead of a single backtick (`) three backticks were used which conflicts with GitHub's recommendation. Also, using three backticks for inline code is distracting (read: it conflicts with my personal taste 馃檲).
