Hi and welcome to Exercism! 👋 Thanks for opening an issue 🙂

For me a lack of responsiveness on mobile is also a problem as I tend to visit Exercism to check messages from mentees or mentors. Sadly the view with all mentoring-related stuff is entirely unusable on mobile device as one cannot scroll the page to see a content, which overflow main container. |
I want to work on this issue. |
@RamGoel Thank you for your offer but we don't accept Pull Requests for the website at this time. Sorry. |
Any updates here? It looks like it could mostly be fixed with by modifying some tailwind classes. Happy to take a crack at a PR if the site is currently accepting them. |
Is there likely to be any progress on this? Exercism is currently completely unusable on mobile; it might actually be the most mobile-unfriendly site I've ever used. Most sites which make no attempt to engage with mobile are just annoying. You have to scroll around the page, viewing a much larger construct through an irritatingly small viewport. Exercism -- at least the corner of it with which I am primarily engaging at the moment: mentoring -- is literally unusable. There are large swaths of the screen which cannot be accessed at all. At the moment I've pasted in a lovely response, but there is no way to scroll the 'submit' button into view. So I literally cannot proceed. I don't care if it gets all gussied up to perfection. I particularly don't care if a Mobile App gets created, as I will never install it. All I want is for the web page to not have such rigid frames and scrolling areas that it is forcibly non-functional on a mobile screen. |
I've fixed similar issues with Exercism-on-desktop, using simplest Tampermonkey scripts; but I haven't yet moved to a mobile browser with adequate extension support, so that's not an option. I'm pretty sure it would take about 3-5 lines of CSS change to make it perfectly serviceable on mobile. Then continue with your 'scheduled / planned' effort which will deliver perfection in 2026 or so... |
I don't think the way or tone you're interacting here is very fruitful to getting this done. That said, it's not my planning, I'm only relaying what I know from the team. It's on their radar, so something that will [eventually] happen. As a mobile user myself, I share the difficulties :) |
@SleeplessByte acknowledged, I was on mobile as I responded, just switched away from the tab where I'd been fruitlessly trying to submit my mentoring comment, not in the right tone of thought to be commenting here... |
@SleeplessByte @dem4ron is there any public roadmap Tix where we can sub to track progress? |
No, there's not, although we do update Insiders with what we're working on more in the Insider videos. We've recently improved the mobile mentoring experience. |
The overview screen does not adapt to small resolution:
The iteration screen is not scrollable and hence does not allow to see comments:
