Currently we have two android test projets, on for image without ndk and on for image with ndk. Updating build tools and android api in their gradle files can be over complicated as a dev can miss the fact there is multiple test projects.

A solution could be to define env variables for build tools and android-api, and lets tests project consume those variables.
