Error when building "Failed to compute path to baseline file during test run spec construction" #18748
Comments
Seems related to #18659 (that one also had the "Failed to compute path to baseline file during test run spec construction"). |
I am able to reproduce this too (using fast lane 2.184.0 which is after version with fix) |
I'm experiencing the same issue unfortunately, any fix or advice would be amazing! thanks! |
same here |
using latest 2.184.0 running on Xcode 12.5.0 circleCI |
same here too - also using 2.184.0 on Xcode 12.5.0 on Bitrise |
The failure I had was actually nothing to do with fastlane, it turned out to be related to timezone discrepancy on CI vs locally making tests fail. Not sure why that was reported as "failed to compute path.." but setting timezone explicitly in test fixed the issue for me. |
I have exactly the same error. Did anyone get a suggestion? Thanks!! peryourhealth |
@Spencer225 been having the same issue too. This github Issue seems to be the only result on google for this exception 🤷 I started a post on apple developer forum. @swwol please share any more insights you may have on this if are able too |
I faced the same issue macOS Big Sur 11.2.3 |
@swwol how did you set the timezone for the tests? |
Just by hard coding the calendar timezone so it is not set from the device
locale

@swwol <https://github.com/swwol> how did you set the timezone for the
tests?

I fixed the issue by replacing xcodebuild(
workspace: "App.xcworkspace",
scheme: "App",
xcargs: "test -destination 'platform=iOS Simulator,name=iPhone 8'",
xcpretty_output: "formatter `bundle exec xcpretty-json-formatter`"
) |
Can you elaborate further? |
For me the test that was failing on the CI was about comparing a date. The error message was confusing and seemed to be about fast lane, but it was actually just because the CI device timezone was different to the expected timezone. let timeZone = try XCTUnwrap(TimeZone(identifier: "Europe/London")) |
I'm seeing the same - ever since we updated to macOS Big Sur and Xcode 12.5. mythdhr Still happens in Xcode 12.5.1 and Xcode 13 beta 1. |
Hey everyone, I figured it out. The Fastlane error message is super cryptic and it's likely outputting the wrong error message. The same error is still showing up for me but my Find the The issue I had was the compiler had issue type checking a few lines in our UnitTest. However, it was working fine through Xcode. 🤯 |
@escakot thank you. That was very helpful for me. Our configuration was attempting to use snapshot and saving the derived data to a project level path. Executing the command directly without

Any progress here? For me this error happens when running 🔴 [2021-09-04 21:57:35 +0000]: 2021-09-04 21:41:52.748 xcodebuild[30187:151566] [MT] DVTAssertions: Warning in /Library/Caches/com.apple.xbs/Sources/IDEFrameworks/IDEFrameworks-18212/IDEFoundation/Testing/IDETestRunSpecificationBuilder.m:678

Please file a bug at https://feedbackassistant.apple.com with this warning message and any useful information you can provide. Looks like xcodebuild retries starting the test suite and for unknown reasons it doesn't work. In the logs in the description on top there is also a setting right before booting the sim fails: |

Issue Description
Ever since we went to Big Sur, we've been seeing the following bizarre errors when we build our test schemes using
fastlane
:Text of error:
After the error, fastlane just sits there, frozen, for several minutes. Eventually it will go ahead and run the tests but quite often the tests will fail due to timeout, where a test that normally takes 0.125 seconds will take 45 seconds to complete, thus failing the build.
This erratic behavior has been since Big Sur.

Complete output when running fastlane, including the stack trace and command used
