Open geophysical data sets

This is a collection of links to various online resources of geophysical data (gravity, magnetic, seismic, etc). The data need to be free and accessible. Bonus points if the download process can be automated.

Potential fields

• Bureau Gravimétrique International has land, marine and absolute data from around the world. Also has grids from EGM08.
• NOAA has some marine and land gravity data (mainly USA) plus marine and airborne magnetic from around the world. Notably this compilation of aeromagnetic data from Antartica
• Scripps offers marine gravity data (with FTP support)
• ICGEM aggregates global gravity models (spherical harmonics) of all kinds
• USGS has a collection of aeromagnetic data from the USA as well as the MRData portal

Geology

• GEOBANK from CPRM offers geology and other vector maps for Brasil.
