At one point in staking auction 3 I committed an amount to a pool, and then tried to increase this amount. The gas cost suggested was very high. I haven't seen the exact amount of gas that MetaMask estimated, just the cost. While this might be an issue with MetaMask, my first place to look would be the contracts.
Browser: Brave v1.1.22 (or v1.1.21, not sure when it updated)
web3 wallet: Brave Crypto Wallets (MetaMask fork)
Steps I followed (I have not tried to reproduce):
Commit an amount to a pool (approve transaction, pledge transaction)
Try to participate in this pool again. The staking UX says I already have an amount committed on this address, and I can increase it. Fill in a higher amount.
Confirm Approve transaction for higher amount
Proceed with transaction to increase pledge
MetaMask comes up with very high transaction costs (~$10 as the lowest):
