What's new

  • Shutdown is disabled for people that don't use it as a replacement launcher. It can be enabled setting it to 1 in config.cfg.
  • The media folder is now configurable in config.cfg. It still needs to be inside the rom folder for the section, but now it can have any name, for instance, .preview
  • Multiple bugs squashed and performance significantly improved for large rom sets

Notes

  • TRANSFERING THROUGH FTP HAS BEEN KNOWN TO CAUSE ISSUES, IF POSSIBLE, TRANSFER DIRECTLY TO YOUR SD CARD.
  • Scaling images (especially big ones) takes more processing power than using images that fit the screen resolution (320x240), so navigation may be slower if doing this,
  • I don't have my Bittboy with me at the moment, so I'm not making a release for it at this time.

Instructions

  1. If you have a previous installation, backup your sections.cfg and favorites.cfg, delete your old /home/.simplemenu directory, launch the app once and overwrite the newly created sections.cfg and favorites.cfg with your backed up copies.
  2. if using the OPKs, just put them in the /media/data/apps folder
  3. if not using OPKs, follow these steps, otherwise, just launch the opk from your main launcher (probably gmenu2x or esoteric):
  • Create the folder /mnt/app/SimpleMenu, if on Bittboy, or /media/data/SimpleMenu, if on RG-350.
  • Copy the contents of the zip file to the newly created folder.
  1. If you want to make SimpleMenu your default launcher, place autoexec.sh in the root folder of the main partition, if on Bittboy, or put frontend-start in /media/data/local/sbin, if on RG-350.
  2. if you didn't have a previous installation config folder (/home/.simplemenu), after the first execution, the folder will be created
  3. Edit /home/.simplemenu/sections.cfg with a text editor, to set your emulators and rom folders for each section.
  4. Feel free to edit config.cfg as well. The options to start in fullscreen mode or to display full rom names are obsolete now, as these settings are remembered between sessions.
