The Java java.net.URL class chokes on non-HTTP, non-FTP URLs. The Ruby URI class suffers from many issues, according to Marc-André Lafortune. This library aims to fix the problem once and for all, for all languages simultaneously. Using the same Ragel machine, a driver class in the host language generates native data types, ready for consumption outside the idealized world of the UrlParser library.
