…s found [ Upstream commit 72f17ba ] If an OVS_ATTR_NESTED attribute type is found while walking through netlink attributes, we call nlattr_set() recursively passing the length table for the following nested attributes, if different from the current one. However, once we're done with those sub-nested attributes, we should continue walking through attributes using the current table, instead of using the one related to the sub-nested attributes. For example, given this sequence: 1 OVS_KEY_ATTR_PRIORITY 2 OVS_KEY_ATTR_TUNNEL 3 OVS_TUNNEL_KEY_ATTR_ID 4 OVS_TUNNEL_KEY_ATTR_IPV4_SRC 5 OVS_TUNNEL_KEY_ATTR_IPV4_DST 6 OVS_TUNNEL_KEY_ATTR_TTL 7 OVS_TUNNEL_KEY_ATTR_TP_SRC 8 OVS_TUNNEL_KEY_ATTR_TP_DST 9 OVS_KEY_ATTR_IN_PORT 10 OVS_KEY_ATTR_SKB_MARK 11 OVS_KEY_ATTR_MPLS we switch to the 'ovs_tunnel_key_lens' table on attribute #3, and we don't switch back to 'ovs_key_lens' while setting attributes rockchip-linux#9 to rockchip-linux#11 in the sequence. As OVS_KEY_ATTR_MPLS evaluates to 21, and the array size of 'ovs_tunnel_key_lens' is 15, we also get this kind of KASan splat while accessing the wrong table: [ 7654.586496] ================================================================== [ 7654.594573] BUG: KASAN: global-out-of-bounds in nlattr_set+0x164/0xde9 [openvswitch] [ 7654.603214] Read of size 4 at addr ffffffffc169ecf0 by task handler29/87430 [ 7654.610983] [ 7654.612644] CPU: 21 PID: 87430 Comm: handler29 Kdump: loaded Not tainted 3.10.0-866.el7.test.x86_64 #1 [ 7654.623030] Hardware name: Dell Inc. commit 48fb6f4 upstream. Commit 65d8fc7 ("futex: Remove requirement for lock_page() in get_futex_key()") removed an unnecessary lock_page() with the side-effect that page->mapping needed to be treated very carefully. Two defensive warnings were added in case any assumption was missed and the first warning assumed a correct application would not alter a mapping backing a futex key. Since merging, it has not triggered for any unexpected case but Mark Rutland reported the following bug triggering due to the first warning. kernel BUG at kernel/futex.c:679! Internal error: Oops - BUG: 0 [#1] PREEMPT SMP Modules linked in: CPU: 0 PID: 3695 Comm: syz-executor1 Not tainted 4.13.0-rc3-00020-g307fec773ba3 #3 Hardware name: linux,dummy-virt (DT) task: ffff80001e271780 task.stack: ffff000010908000 PC is at get_futex_key+0x6a4/0xcf0 kernel/futex.c:679 LR is at get_futex_key+0x6a4/0xcf0 kernel/futex.c:679 pc : [<ffff00000821ac14>] lr : [<ffff00000821ac14>] pstate: 80000145 The fact that it's a bug instead of a warning was due to an unrelated arm64 problem, but the warning itself triggered because the underlying mapping changed. This is an application issue but from a kernel perspective it's a recoverable situation and the warning is unnecessary so this patch removes the warning. The warning may potentially be triggered with the following test program from Mark although it may be necessary to adjust NR_FUTEX_THREADS to be a value smaller than the number of CPUs in the system. #include <linux/futex.h> #include <pthread.h> #include <stdio.h> #include <stdlib.h> #include <sys/mman.h> #include <sys/syscall.h> #include <sys/time.h> #include <unistd.h> #define NR_FUTEX_THREADS 16 pthread_t threads[NR_FUTEX_THREADS]; void *mem; #define MEM_PROT (PROT_READ | PROT_WRITE) #define MEM_SIZE 65536 static int futex_wrapper(int *uaddr, int op, int val, const struct timespec *timeout, int *uaddr2, int val3) { syscall(SYS_futex, uaddr, op, val, timeout, uaddr2, val3); } void *poll_futex(void *unused) { for (;;) { futex_wrapper(mem, FUTEX_CMP_REQUEUE_PI, 1, NULL, mem + 4, 1); } } int main(int argc, char *argv[]) { int i; mem = mmap(NULL, MEM_SIZE, MEM_PROT, MAP_SHARED | MAP_ANONYMOUS, -1, 0); printf("Mapping @ %p\n", mem); printf("Creating futex threads...\n"); for (i = 0; i < NR_FUTEX_THREADS; i++) pthread_create(&threads[i], NULL, poll_futex, NULL); printf("Flipping mapping...\n"); for (;;) { mmap(mem, MEM_SIZE, MEM_PROT, MAP_FIXED | MAP_SHARED | MAP_ANONYMOUS, -1, 0); } return 0; } Reported-and-tested-by: Mark Rutland <mark.rutland@arm.com> Signed-off-by: Mel Gorman <mgorman@suse.de> Acked-by: Peter Zijlstra (Intel) <peterz@infradead.org> Cc: stable@vger.kernel.org # 4.7+ Signed-off-by: Linus Torvalds <torvalds@linux-foundation.org> Cc: Ben Hutchings <ben.hutchings@codethink.co.uk> Signed-off-by: Greg Kroah-Hartman <gregkh@linuxfoundation.org>

[ Upstream commit 5bdd0c6 ] If jffs2_iget() fails for a newly-allocated inode, jffs2_do_clear_inode() can get called twice in the error handling path, the first call in jffs2_iget() itself and the second through iget_failed(). This can result to a use-after-free error in the second jffs2_do_clear_inode() call, such as shown by the oops below wherein the second jffs2_do_clear_inode() call was trying to free node fragments that were already freed in the first jffs2_do_clear_inode() call. [ Upstream commit 3de59bb ] In handle_write_finished(), if r1_bio->bios[m] != NULL, it thinks the corresponding conf->mirrors[m].rdev is also not NULL. But, it is not always true. Even if some io hold replacement rdev(i.e. rdev->nr_pending.count > 0), raid1_remove_disk() can also set the rdev as NULL. That means, bios[m] != NULL, but mirrors[m].rdev is NULL, resulting in NULL pointer dereference in handle_write_finished and sync_request_write. This patch can fix BUGs as follows: BUG: unable to handle kernel NULL pointer dereference at 0000000000000140 IP: [<ffffffff815bbbbd>] raid1d+0x2bd/0xfc0 PGD 12ab52067 PUD 12f587067 PMD 0 Oops: 0000 [#1] SMP CPU: 1 PID: 2008 Comm: md3_raid1 Not tainted 4.1.44+ rockchip-linux#130 Hardware name: QEMU Standard PC (i440FX + PIIX, 1996), BIOS 1.10.2-1.fc26 04/01/2014 Call Trace: ? schedule+0x37/0x90 ? prepare_to_wait_event+0x83/0xf0 md_thread+0x144/0x150 ? wake_atomic_t_function+0x70/0x70 ? md_start_sync+0xf0/0xf0 kthread+0xd8/0xf0 ? kthread_worker_fn+0x160/0x160 ret_from_fork+0x42/0x70 ? kthread_worker_fn+0x160/0x160 BUG: unable to handle kernel NULL pointer dereference at 00000000000000b8 IP: sync_request_write+0x9e/0x980 PGD 800000007c518067 P4D 800000007c518067 PUD 8002b067 PMD 0 Oops: 0000 [#1] SMP PTI CPU: 24 PID: 2549 Comm: md3_raid1 Not tainted 4.15.0+ rockchip-linux#118 Hardware name: QEMU Standard PC (i440FX + PIIX, 1996), BIOS 1.10.2-1.fc26 04/01/2014 Call Trace: ? sched_clock+0x5/0x10 ? sched_clock_cpu+0xc/0xb0 ? flush_pending_writes+0x3a/0xd0 ? pick_next_task_fair+0x4d5/0x5f0 ? __switch_to+0xa2/0x430 raid1d+0x65a/0x870 ? find_pers+0x70/0x70 ? find_pers+0x70/0x70 ? md_thread+0x11c/0x160 md_thread+0x11c/0x160 ? finish_wait+0x80/0x80 kthread+0x111/0x130 ? kthread_create_worker_on_cpu+0x70/0x70 ? do_syscall_64+0x6f/0x190 ? In search_free(), it finishes the s->orig_bio by calling bio_complete(), and after that, s->iop.bio became invalid, then kernel would crash when calling bio_put(). Maybe its upper layer's faulty, since bio should not be freed before we calling bio_put(), but we'd better calling bio_put() first before calling bio_complete() to notify upper layer ending this bio. This patch moves bio_complete() under bio_put() to avoid kernel crash. [ Upstream commit ae47457 ] In some situation vlan packets do not have ethernet headers. One example is packets from tun devices. Users can specify vlan protocol in tun_pi field instead of IP protocol, and skb_vlan_untag() attempts to untag such packets. skb_vlan_untag() (more precisely, skb_reorder_vlan_header() called by it) however did not expect packets without ethernet headers, so in such a case size argument for memmove() underflowed and triggered crash. ==== BUG: unable to handle kernel paging request at ffff8801cccb8000 IP: __memmove+0x24/0x1a0 arch/x86/lib/memmove_64.S:43 PGD 9cee067 P4D 9cee067 PUD 1d9401063 PMD 1cccb7063 PTE 2810100028101 Oops: 000b [#1] SMP KASAN Dumping ftrace buffer: (ftrace buffer empty) Modules linked in: CPU: 1 PID: 17663 Comm: syz-executor2 Not tainted 4.16.0-rc7+ #368 Hardware name: Google Google Compute Engine/Google Compute Engine, BIOS Google 01/01/2011 RIP: 0010:__memmove+0x24/0x1a0 arch/x86/lib/memmove_64.S:43 RSP: 0018:ffff8801cc046e28 EFLAGS: 00010287 RAX: ffff8801ccc244c4 RBX: fffffffffffffffe RCX: fffffffffff6c4c2 RDX: fffffffffffffffe RSI: ffff8801cccb7ffc RDI: ffff8801cccb8000 RBP: ffff8801cc046e48 R08: ffff8801ccc244be R09: ffffed0039984899 R10: 0000000000000001 R11: ffffed0039984898 R12: ffff8801ccc244c4 R13: ffff8801ccc244c0 R14: ffff8801d96b7c06 R15: ffff8801d96b7b40 FS: 00007febd562d700(0000) GS:ffff8801db300000(0000) knlGS:0000000000000000 CS: 0010 DS: 0000 ES: 0000 CR0: 0000000080050033 CR2: ffff8801cccb8000 CR3: 00000001ccb2f006 CR4: 00000000001606e0 DR0: 0000000020000000 DR1: 0000000020000000 DR2: 0000000000000000 DR3: 0000000000000000 DR6: 00000000fffe0ff0 DR7: 0000000000000600 Call Trace: memmove include/linux/string.h:360 [inline] skb_reorder_vlan_header net/core/skbuff.c:5031 [inline] skb_vlan_untag+0x470/0xc40 net/core/skbuff.c:5061 __netif_receive_skb_core+0x119c/0x3460 net/core/dev.c:4460 __netif_receive_skb+0x2c/0x1b0 net/core/dev.c:4627 netif_receive_skb_internal+0x10b/0x670 net/core/dev.c:4701 netif_receive_skb+0xae/0x390 net/core/dev.c:4725 tun_rx_batched.isra.50+0x5ee/0x870 drivers/net/tun.c:1555 tun_get_user+0x299e/0x3c20 drivers/net/tun.c:1962 tun_chr_write_iter+0xb9/0x160 drivers/net/tun.c:1990 call_write_iter include/linux/fs.h:1782 [inline] new_sync_write fs/read_write.c:469 [inline] __vfs_write+0x684/0x970 fs/read_write.c:482 vfs_write+0x189/0x510 fs/read_write.c:544 SYSC_write fs/read_write.c:589 [inline] SyS_write+0xef/0x220 fs/read_write.c:581 do_syscall_64+0x281/0x940 arch/x86/entry/common.c:287 entry_SYSCALL_64_after_hwframe+0x42/0xb7 RIP: 0033:0x454879 RSP: 002b:00007febd562cc68 EFLAGS: 00000246 ORIG_RAX: 0000000000000001 RAX: ffffffffffffffda RBX: 00007febd562d6d4 RCX: 0000000000454879 RDX: 0000000000000157 RSI: 0000000020000180 RDI: 0000000000000014 RBP: 000000000072bea0 R08: 0000000000000000 R09: 0000000000000000 R10: 0000000000000000 R11: 0000000000000246 R12: 00000000ffffffff R13: 00000000000006b0 R14: 00000000006fc120 R15: 0000000000000000 Code: 90 90 90 90 90 90 90 48 89 f8 48 83 fa 20 0f 82 03 01 00 00 48 39 fe 7d 0f 49 89 f0 49 01 d0 49 39 f8 0f 8f 9f 00 00 00 48 89 d1 <f3> a4 c3 48 81 fa a8 02 00 00 72 05 40 38 fe 74 3b 48 83 ea 20 RIP: __memmove+0x24/0x1a0 arch/x86/lib/memmove_64.S:43 RSP: ffff8801cc046e28 CR2: ffff8801cccb8000 ==== We don't need to copy headers for packets which do not have preceding headers of vlan headers, so skip memmove() in that case. [ Upstream commit 8a5a916 ] While running btrfs/011, I hit the following lockdep splat. This is the important bit: pcpu_alloc+0x1ac/0x5e0 __percpu_counter_init+0x4e/0xb0 btrfs_init_fs_root+0x99/0x1c0 [btrfs] btrfs_get_fs_root.part.54+0x5b/0x150 [btrfs] resolve_indirect_refs+0x130/0x830 [btrfs] find_parent_nodes+0x69e/0xff0 [btrfs] btrfs_find_all_roots_safe+0xa0/0x110 [btrfs] btrfs_find_all_roots+0x50/0x70 [btrfs] btrfs_qgroup_prepare_account_extents+0x53/0x90 [btrfs] btrfs_commit_transaction+0x3ce/0x9b0 [btrfs] The percpu_counter_init call in btrfs_alloc_subvolume_writers uses GFP_KERNEL, which we can't do during transaction commit. This switches it to GFP_NOFS. ======================================================== WARNING: possible irq lock inversion dependency detected 4.12.14-kvmsmall #8 Tainted: G W [ Upstream commit 0834d62 ] In mpic_physmask() we loop over all CPUs up to 32, then get the hard SMP processor id of that CPU. Currently that's possibly walking off the end of the paca array, but in a future patch we will change the paca array to be an array of pointers, and in that case we will get a NULL for missing CPUs and oops. eg: Unable to handle kernel paging request for data at address 0x88888888888888b8 Faulting instruction address: 0xc00000000004e380 Oops: Kernel access of bad area, sig: 11 [#1] ... NIP .mpic_set_affinity+0x60/0x1a0 LR .irq_do_set_affinity+0x48/0x100 Fix it by checking the CPU is possible, this also fixes the code if there are gaps in the CPU numbering which probably never happens on mpic systems but who knows. [ Upstream commit 8b2d93d ] When attempt to run worker (ath10k_sta_rc_update_wk) after the station object (ieee80211_sta) delete will trigger the kernel panic. This problem arise in AP + Mesh configuration, Where the current node AP VAP and neighbor node mesh VAP MAC address are same. When the current mesh node try to establish the mesh link with neighbor node, driver peer creation for the neighbor mesh node fails due to duplication MAC address. Already the AP VAP created with same MAC address. It is caused by the following scenario steps. Steps: 1. In above condition, ath10k driver sta_state callback (ath10k_sta_state) fails to do the state change for a station from IEEE80211_STA_NOTEXIST to IEEE80211_STA_NONE due to peer creation fails. Sta_state callback is called from ieee80211_add_station() to handle the new station (neighbor mesh node) request from the wpa_supplicant. 2. Concurrently ath10k receive the sta_rc_update callback notification from the mesh_neighbour_update() to handle the beacon frames of the above neighbor mesh node. since its atomic callback, ath10k driver queue the work (ath10k_sta_rc_update_wk) to handle rc update. 3. Due to driver sta_state callback fails (step 1), mac80211 free the station object. 4. When the worker (ath10k_sta_rc_update_wk) scheduled to run, it will access the station object which is already deleted. so it will trigger kernel panic. Added the peer exist check in sta_rc_update callback before queue the work. [ Upstream commit ab60368 ] IMA requires having it's hash algorithm be compiled-in due to it's early use. The default IMA algorithm is protected by Kconfig to be compiled-in. The ima_hash kernel parameter allows to choose the hash algorithm. When the specified algorithm is not available or available as a module, IMA initialization fails, which leads to a kernel panic (mknodat syscall calls ima_post_path_mknod()). Therefore as fallback we force IMA to use the default builtin Kconfig hash algorithm. Fixed crash: $ grep CONFIG_CRYPTO_MD4 .config CONFIG_CRYPTO_MD4=m [ 0.000000] Command line: BOOT_IMAGE=/boot/vmlinuz-4.12.14-2.3-default root=UUID=74ae8202-9ca7-4e39-813b-22287ec52f7a video=1024x768-16 plymouth.ignore-serial-consoles console=ttyS0 console=tty resume=/dev/disk/by-path/pci-0000:00:07.0-part3 splash=silent showopts ima_hash=md4 ... [ Upstream commit 4058ebf ] When using a AIO read() operation on the function FS gadget driver a URB is submitted asynchronously and on URB completion the received data is copied to the userspace buffer associated with the read operation. This is done from a kernel worker thread invoking copy_to_user() (through copy_to_iter()). And while the user space process memory is made available to the kernel thread using use_mm(), some architecture require in addition to this that the operation runs with USER_DS set. Otherwise the userspace memory access will fail. For example on ARM64 with Privileged Access Never (PAN) and User Access Override (UAO) enabled the following crash occurs. The call to check_disk_change() then saw an event flag indicating a possible media change and tried to flush any cached data for the device. As part of the flush, it tried to acquire the super_block->s_umount lock associated with the cdrom device. This was the same super_block as created and locked by the previous task. The first task acquires the s_umount lock and then the sr_mutex_lock; the second task acquires the sr_mutex_lock and then the s_umount lock. This patch fixes the issue by moving check_disk_change() out of cdrom_open() and let the caller take care of it. [ Upstream commit a3ca831 ] When booting up with "threadirqs" in command line, all irq handlers of the DMA controller pl330 will be threaded forcedly. These threads will race for the same list, pl330->req_done. Before the callback, the spinlock was released. And after it, the spinlock was taken. This opened an race window where another threaded irq handler could steal the spinlock and be permitted to delete entries of the list, pl330->req_done. If the later deleted an entry that was still referred to by the former, there would be a kernel panic when the former was scheduled and tried to get the next sibling of the deleted entry. The scenario could be depicted as below: Thread: T1 pl330->req_done Thread: T2 | | | | -A-B-C-D- | Locked | | | | Waiting Del A | | | -B-C-D- | Unlocked | | | | Locked Waiting | | | | Del B | | | | -C-D- Unlocked Waiting | | | Locked | get C via B \ - Kernel panic The kernel panic looked like as below: Unable to handle kernel paging request at virtual address dead000000000108 pgd = ffffff8008c9e000 [dead000000000108] *pgd=000000027fffe003, *pud=000000027fffe003, *pmd=0000000000000000 Internal error: Oops: 96000044 [#1] PREEMPT SMP Modules linked in: CPU: 0 PID: 85 Comm: irq/59-66330000 Not tainted 4.8.24-WR9.0.0.12_standard #2 Hardware name: Broadcom NS2 SVK (DT) task: ffffffc1f5cc3c00 task.stack: ffffffc1f5ce0000 PC is at pl330_irq_handler+0x27c/0x390 LR is at pl330_irq_handler+0x2a8/0x390 pc : [<ffffff80084cb694>] lr : [<ffffff80084cb6c0>] pstate: 800001c5 sp : ffffffc1f5ce3d00 x29: ffffffc1f5ce3d00 x28: 0000000000000140 x27: ffffffc1f5c530b0 x26: dead000000000100 x25: dead000000000200 x24: 0000000000418958 x23: 0000000000000001 x22: ffffffc1f5ccd668 x21: ffffffc1f5ccd590 x20: ffffffc1f5ccd418 x19: dead000000000060 x18: 0000000000000001 x17: 0000000000000007 x16: 0000000000000001 x15: ffffffffffffffff x14: ffffffffffffffff x13: ffffffffffffffff x12: 0000000000000000 x11: 0000000000000001 x10: 0000000000000840 x9 : ffffffc1f5ce0000 x8 : ffffffc1f5cc3338 x7 : ffffff8008ce2020 x6 : 0000000000000000 x5 : 0000000000000000 x4 : 0000000000000001 x3 : dead000000000200 x2 : dead000000000100 x1 : 0000000000000140 x0 : ffffffc1f5ccd590 Process irq/59-66330000 (pid: 85, stack limit = 0xffffffc1f5ce0020) Stack: (0xffffffc1f5ce3d00 to 0xffffffc1f5ce4000) 3d00: ffffffc1f5ce3d80 ffffff80080f09d0 ffffffc1f5ca0c00 ffffffc1f6f7c600 3d20: ffffffc1f5ce0000 ffffffc1f6f7c600 ffffffc1f5ca0c00 ffffff80080f0998 3d40: ffffffc1f5ce0000 ffffff80080f0000 0000000000000000 0000000000000000 3d60: ffffff8008ce202c ffffff8008ce2020 ffffffc1f5ccd668 ffffffc1f5c530b0 3d80: ffffffc1f5ce3db0 ffffff80080f0d70 ffffffc1f5ca0c40 0000000000000001 3da0: ffffffc1f5ce0000 ffffff80080f0cfc ffffffc1f5ce3e20 ffffff80080bf4f8 3dc0: ffffffc1f5ca0c80 ffffff8008bf3798 ffffff8008955528 ffffffc1f5ca0c00 3de0: ffffff80080f0c30 0000000000000000 0000000000000000 0000000000000000 3e00: 0000000000000000 0000000000000000 0000000000000000 ffffff80080f0b68 3e20: 0000000000000000 ffffff8008083690 ffffff80080bf420 ffffffc1f5ca0c80 3e40: 0000000000000000 0000000000000000 0000000000000000 ffffff80080cb648 3e60: ffffff8008b1c780 0000000000000000 0000000000000000 ffffffc1f5ca0c00 3e80: ffffffc100000000 ffffff8000000000 ffffffc1f5ce3e90 ffffffc1f5ce3e90 3ea0: 0000000000000000 ffffff8000000000 ffffffc1f5ce3eb0 ffffffc1f5ce3eb0 3ec0: 0000000000000000 0000000000000000 0000000000000000 0000000000000000 3ee0: 0000000000000000 0000000000000000 0000000000000000 0000000000000000 3f00: 0000000000000000 0000000000000000 0000000000000000 0000000000000000 3f20: 0000000000000000 0000000000000000 0000000000000000 0000000000000000 3f40: 0000000000000000 0000000000000000 0000000000000000 0000000000000000 3f60: 0000000000000000 0000000000000000 0000000000000000 0000000000000000 3f80: 0000000000000000 0000000000000000 0000000000000000 0000000000000000 3fa0: 0000000000000000 0000000000000000 0000000000000000 0000000000000000 3fc0: 0000000000000000 0000000000000005 0000000000000000 0000000000000000 3fe0: 0000000000000000 0000000000000000 0000000275ce3ff0 0000000275ce3ff8 Call trace: Exception stack(0xffffffc1f5ce3b30 to 0xffffffc1f5ce3c60) 3b20: dead000000000060 0000008000000000 3b40: ffffffc1f5ce3d00 ffffff80084cb694 0000000000000008 0000000000000e88 3b60: ffffffc1f5ce3bb0 ffffff80080dac68 ffffffc1f5ce3b90 ffffff8008826fe4 3b80: 00000000000001c0 00000000000001c0 ffffffc1f5ce3bb0 ffffff800848dfcc 3ba0: 0000000000020000 ffffff8008b15ae4 ffffffc1f5ce3c00 ffffff800808f000 3bc0: 0000000000000010 ffffff80088377f0 ffffffc1f5ccd590 0000000000000140 3be0: dead000000000100 dead000000000200 0000000000000001 0000000000000000 3c00: 0000000000000000 ffffff8008ce2020 ffffffc1f5cc3338 ffffffc1f5ce0000 3c20: 0000000000000840 0000000000000001 0000000000000000 ffffffffffffffff 3c40: ffffffffffffffff ffffffffffffffff 0000000000000001 0000000000000007 [<ffffff80084cb694>] pl330_irq_handler+0x27c/0x390 [<ffffff80080f09d0>] irq_forced_thread_fn+0x38/0x88 [<ffffff80080f0d70>] irq_thread+0x140/0x200 [<ffffff80080bf4f8>] kthread+0xd8/0xf0 [<ffffff8008083690>] ret_from_fork+0x10/0x40 Code: f2a00838 f9405763 aa1c03e1 aa1503e0 (f9000443) ---[ end trace f50005726d31199c ]--- Kernel panic - not syncing: Fatal exception in interrupt SMP: stopping secondary CPUs SMP: failed to stop secondary CPUs 0-1 Kernel Offset: disabled Memory Limit: none ---[ end Kernel panic - not syncing: Fatal exception in interrupt To fix this, re-start with the list-head after dropping the lock then re-takeing it. I think this patch can fix other dlm users as well, depending how they handle the init, freeing memory handling of sb_lvbptr and don't set DLM_LKF_VALBLK for some dlm_lock() calls. It might a there could be a hidden issue all the time. However with checking on DLM_LKF_VALBLK the user always need to provide a sb_lvbptr non-null value. There might be more intelligent handling between per ls lvblen, DLM_LKF_VALBLK and non-null to report the user the way how DLM API is used is wrong but can be added for later, this will only fix the current behaviour. [ Upstream commit d89d7ff ] Another syzbot report [1] with no reproducer hints at a bug in ip6_gre tunnel (dev:ip6gretap0) Since ipv6 mcast code makes sure to read dev->mtu once and applies a sanity check on it (see commit b9b312a "ipv6: mcast: better catch silly mtu values"), a remaining possibility is that a layer is able to set dev->mtu to an underflowed value (high order bit set). This could happen indeed in ip6gre_tnl_link_config_route(), ip6_tnl_link_config() and ipip6_tunnel_bind_dev() Make sure to sanitize mtu value in a local variable before it is written once on dev->mtu, as lockless readers could catch wrong temporary value. [ Upstream commit bacd22d ] mlx5_cmd_cleanup_async_ctx should return only after all its callback handlers were completed. Before this patch, the below race between mlx5_cmd_cleanup_async_ctx and mlx5_cmd_exec_cb_handler was possible and lead to a use-after-free: 1. mlx5_cmd_cleanup_async_ctx is called while num_inflight is 2 (i.e. elevated by 1, a single inflight callback). 2. mlx5_cmd_cleanup_async_ctx decreases num_inflight to 1. 3. mlx5_cmd_exec_cb_handler is called, decreases num_inflight to 0 and is about to call wake_up(). 4. mlx5_cmd_cleanup_async_ctx calls wait_event, which returns immediately as the condition (num_inflight == 0) holds. 5. mlx5_cmd_cleanup_async_ctx returns. 6. The caller of mlx5_cmd_cleanup_async_ctx frees the mlx5_async_ctx object. 7. mlx5_cmd_exec_cb_handler goes on and calls wake_up() on the freed object. Fix it by syncing using a completion object. Mark it completed when num_inflight reaches 0. [ Upstream commit 569bea7 ] In piix4_probe(), the piix4 adapter will be registered in: piix4_probe() piix4_add_adapters_sb800() / piix4_add_adapter() i2c_add_adapter() Based on the probed device type, piix4_add_adapters_sb800() or single piix4_add_adapter() will be called. For the former case, piix4_adapter_count is set as the number of adapters, while for antoher case it is not set and kept default *zero*. When piix4 is removed, piix4_remove() removes the adapters added in piix4_probe(), basing on the piix4_adapter_count value. Because the count is zero for the single adapter case, the adapter won't be removed and makes the sources allocated for adapter leaked, such as the i2c client and device. These sources can still be accessed by i2c or bus and cause problems. An easily reproduced case is that if a new adapter is registered, i2c will get the leaked adapter and try to call smbus_algorithm, which was already freed: Triggered by: rmmod i2c_piix4 && modprobe max31730 BUG: unable to handle page fault for address: ffffffffc053d860 #PF: supervisor read access in kernel mode #PF: error_code(0x0000) - not-present page Oops: 0000 [#1] PREEMPT SMP KASAN CPU: 0 PID: 3752 Comm: modprobe Tainted: G Hardware name: QEMU Standard PC (i440FX + PIIX, 1996) RIP: 0010:i2c_default_probe (drivers/i2c/i2c-core-base.c:2259) i2c_core RSP: 0018:ffff888107477710 EFLAGS: 00000246 ... <TASK> i2c_detect (drivers/i2c/i2c-core-base.c:2302) i2c_core __process_new_driver (drivers/i2c/i2c-core-base.c:1336) i2c_core bus_for_each_dev (drivers/base/bus.c:301) i2c_for_each_dev (drivers/i2c/i2c-core-base.c:1823) i2c_core i2c_register_driver (drivers/i2c/i2c-core-base.c:1861) i2c_core do_one_initcall (init/main.c:1296) do_init_module (kernel/module/main.c:2455) ... </TASK> ---[ end trace 0000000000000000 ]--- Fix this problem by correctly set piix4_adapter_count as 1 for the single adapter so it can be normally removed. 'n' here is the number of items in this block, which in this case was 1, but we had 2 REMOVE_WHILE_FREEING operations. The actual root cause of this was that we were replaying operations for a block that shouldn't have been replayed. Consider the following sequence of events 1. We have an already modified root, and we do a btrfs_get_tree_mod_seq(). 2. We begin removing items from this root, triggering KEY_REPLACE for it's child slots. 3. We remove one of the 2 children this root node points to, thus triggering the root node promotion of the remaining child, and freeing this node. 4. We modify a new root, and re-allocate the above node to the root node of this other root. The tree mod log looks something like this logical 0 op KEY_REPLACE (slot 1) seq 2 logical 0 op KEY_REMOVE (slot 1) seq 3 logical 0 op KEY_REMOVE_WHILE_FREEING (slot 0) seq 4 logical 4096 op LOG_ROOT_REPLACE (old logical 0) seq 5 logical 8192 op KEY_REMOVE_WHILE_FREEING (slot 1) seq 6 logical 8192 op KEY_REMOVE_WHILE_FREEING (slot 0) seq 7 logical 0 op LOG_ROOT_REPLACE (old logical 8192) seq 8 >From here the bug is triggered by the following steps 1. Call btrfs_get_old_root() on the new_root. 2. We call tree_mod_log_oldest_root(btrfs_root_node(new_root)), which is currently logical 0. 3. tree_mod_log_oldest_root() calls tree_mod_log_search_oldest(), which gives us the KEY_REPLACE seq 2, and since that's not a LOG_ROOT_REPLACE we incorrectly believe that we don't have an old root, because we expect that the most recent change should be a LOG_ROOT_REPLACE. 4. Back in tree_mod_log_oldest_root() we don't have a LOG_ROOT_REPLACE, so we don't set old_root, we simply use our existing extent buffer. 5. Since we're using our existing extent buffer (logical 0) we call tree_mod_log_search(0) in order to get the newest change to start the rewind from, which ends up being the LOG_ROOT_REPLACE at seq 8. 6. Again since we didn't find an old_root we simply clone logical 0 at it's current state. 7. We call tree_mod_log_rewind() with the cloned extent buffer. 8. Set n = btrfs_header_nritems(logical 0), which would be whatever the original nritems was when we COWed the original root, say for this example it's 2. 9. We start from the newest operation and work our way forward, so we see LOG_ROOT_REPLACE which we ignore. 10. Next we see KEY_REMOVE_WHILE_FREEING for slot 0, which triggers the BUG_ON(tm->slot < n), because it expects if we've done this we have a completely empty extent buffer to replay completely. The correct thing would be to find the first LOG_ROOT_REPLACE, and then get the old_root set to logical 8192. In fact making that change fixes this particular problem. However consider the much more complicated case. We have a child node in this tree and the above situation. In the above case we freed one of the child blocks at the seq 3 operation. If this block was also re-allocated and got new tree mod log operations we would have a different problem. btrfs_search_old_slot(orig root) would get down to the logical 0 root that still pointed at that node. However in btrfs_search_old_slot() we call tree_mod_log_rewind(buf) directly. This is not context aware enough to know which operations we should be replaying. If the block was re-allocated multiple times we may only want to replay a range of operations, and determining what that range is isn't possible to determine. We could maybe solve this by keeping track of which root the node belonged to at every tree mod log operation, and then passing this around to make sure we're only replaying operations that relate to the root we're trying to rewind. However there's a simpler way to solve this problem, simply disallow reallocations if we have currently running tree mod log users. We already do this for leaf's, so we're simply expanding this to nodes as well. This is a relatively uncommon occurrence, and the problem is complicated enough I'm worried that we will still have corner cases in the reallocation case. So fix this in the most straightforward way possible. …ker() commit 6788ba8 upstream. This patch fixes an intra-object buffer overflow in brcmfmac that occurs when the device provides a 'bsscfgidx' equal to or greater than the buffer size. The patch adds a check that leads to a safe failure if that is the case. This fixes CVE-2022-3628. commit 2033ab9 upstream. Cited commit converted the neighbour code to use the standard RCU variant instead of the RCU-bh variant, but the VRF code still uses rcu_read_lock_bh() / rcu_read_unlock_bh() around the neighbour lookup code in its IPv4 and IPv6 output paths, resulting in lockdep splats [1][2]. Can be reproduced using [3]. Fix by switching to rcu_read_lock() / rcu_read_unlock(). When the flush is needed the code jumps out-of-line to do the flush, and then intends to jump back to continue the syscall return. However the branch back to label 1b doesn't return to the correct location, instead branching back just prior to the return to userspace, causing bogus register values to be used by the rfi. The breakage was introduced by commit 6f76a01 ("powerpc/syscall: implement system call entry/exit logic in C for PPC32") which inadvertently removed the "1" label and reused it elsewhere. Fix it by adding named local labels in the correct locations. Note that the return label needs to be outside the ifdef so that CONFIG_PPC_47x=n compiles. commit bc056e7 upstream. When we calculate the end position of ext4_free_extent, this position may be exactly where ext4_lblk_t (i.e. uint) overflows. For example, if ac_g_ex.fe_logical is 4294965248 and ac_orig_goal_len is 2048, then the computed end is 0x100000000, which is 0. If ac->ac_o_ex.fe_logical is not the first case of adjusting the best extent, that is, new_bex_end > 0, the following BUG_ON will be triggered: ========================================================= kernel BUG at fs/ext4/mballoc.c:5116! invalid opcode: 0000 [#1] PREEMPT SMP PTI CPU: 3 PID: 673 Comm: xfs_io Tainted: G E 6.5.0-rc1+ rockchip-linux#279 RIP: 0010:ext4_mb_new_inode_pa+0xc5/0x430 Call Trace: <TASK> ext4_mb_use_best_found+0x203/0x2f0 ext4_mb_try_best_found+0x163/0x240 ext4_mb_regular_allocator+0x158/0x1550 ext4_mb_new_blocks+0x86a/0xe10 ext4_ext_map_blocks+0xb0c/0x13a0 ext4_map_blocks+0x2cd/0x8f0 ext4_iomap_begin+0x27b/0x400 iomap_iter+0x222/0x3d0 __iomap_dio_rw+0x243/0xcb0 iomap_dio_rw+0x16/0x80 ========================================================= A simple reproducer demonstrating the problem: mkfs.ext4 -F /dev/sda -b 4096 100M mount /dev/sda /tmp/test fallocate -l1M /tmp/test/tmp fallocate -l10M /tmp/test/file fallocate -i -o 1M -l16777203M /tmp/test/file fsstress -d /tmp/test -l 0 -n 100000 -p 8 & sleep 10 && killall -9 fsstress rm -f /tmp/test/tmp xfs_io -c "open -ad /tmp/test/file" -c "pwrite -S 0xff 0 8192" We simply refactor the logic for adjusting the best extent by adding a temporary ext4_free_extent ex and use extent_logical_end() to avoid overflow, which also simplifies the code. Analysis of the oops pointed to a struct page with a corrupted compound_head being loaded via page_folio() -> _compound_head() in hash_page_do_lazy_icache(). The access by the mpic code is to an MMIO address, so the expectation is that the struct page for that address would be initialised by init_unavailable_range(), as pointed out by Aneesh. Instrumentation showed that was not the case, which eventually lead to the realisation that pfn_valid() was returning false for that address, causing the struct page to not be initialised. Because the system is using FLATMEM, the version of pfn_valid() in memory_model.h is used: static inline int pfn_valid(unsigned long pfn) { ... return pfn >= pfn_offset && (pfn - pfn_offset) < max_mapnr; } Which relies on max_mapnr being initialised. Early in boot max_mapnr is zero meaning no PFNs are valid. max_mapnr is initialised in mem_init() called via: start_kernel() mm_core_init() # init/main.c:928 mem_init() But that is too late for the usage in init_unavailable_range() called via: start_kernel() setup_arch() # init/main.c:893 paging_init() free_area_init() init_unavailable_range() Although max_mapnr is currently set in mem_init(), the value is actually already available much earlier, as soon as mem_topology_setup() has completed, which is also before paging_init() is called. So move the initialisation there, which causes paging_init() to correctly initialise the struct page and fixes the bug. This bug seems to have been lurking for years, but went unnoticed because the pre-folio code was inspecting the uninitialised page->flags but not dereferencing it. Thanks to Erhard and Aneesh for help debugging. [ Upstream commit 4428399 ] The lt8912b driver, in its bridge detach function, calls drm_connector_unregister() and drm_connector_cleanup(). drm_connector_unregister() should be called only for connectors explicitly registered with drm_connector_register(), which is not the case in lt8912b. The driver's drm_connector_funcs.destroy hook is set to drm_connector_cleanup(). Thus the driver should not call either drm_connector_unregister() nor drm_connector_cleanup() in its lt8912_bridge_detach(), as they cause a crash on bridge detach: Unable to handle kernel NULL pointer dereference at virtual address 0000000000000000 Mem abort info: ESR = 0x0000000096000006 EC = 0x25: DABT (current EL), IL = 32 bits SET = 0, FnV = 0 EA = 0, S1PTW = 0 FSC = 0x06: level 2 translation fault Data abort info: ISV = 0, ISS = 0x00000006, ISS2 = 0x00000000 CM = 0, WnR = 0, TnD = 0, TagAccess = 0 GCS = 0, Overlay = 0, DirtyBit = 0, Xs = 0 user pgtable: 4k pages, 48-bit VAs, pgdp=00000000858f3000 [0000000000000000] pgd=0800000085918003, p4d=0800000085918003, pud=0800000085431003, pmd=0000000000000000 Internal error: Oops: 0000000096000006 [#1] PREEMPT SMP Modules linked in: tidss(-) display_connector lontium_lt8912b tc358768 panel_lvds panel_simple drm_dma_helper drm_kms_helper drm drm_panel_orientation_quirks CPU: 3 PID: 462 Comm: rmmod Tainted: G W 6.5.0-rc2+ #2 Hardware name: Toradex Verdin AM62 on Verdin Development Board (DT) pstate: 80000005 (Nzcv daif -PAN -UAO -TCO -DIT -SSBS BTYPE=--) pc : drm_connector_cleanup+0x78/0x2d4 [drm] lr : lt8912_bridge_detach+0x54/0x6c [lontium_lt8912b] sp : ffff800082ed3a90 x29: ffff800082ed3a90 x28: ffff0000040c1940 x27: 0000000000000000 x26: 0000000000000000 x25: dead000000000122 x24: dead000000000122 x23: dead000000000100 x22: ffff000003fb6388 x21: 0000000000000000 x20: 0000000000000000 x19: ffff000003fb6260 x18: fffffffffffe56e8 x17: 0000000000000000 x16: 0010000000000000 x15: 0000000000000038 x14: 0000000000000000 x13: ffff800081914b48 x12: 000000000000040e x11: 000000000000015a x10: ffff80008196ebb8 x9 : ffff800081914b48 x8 : 00000000ffffefff x7 : ffff0000040c1940 x6 : ffff80007aa649d0 x5 : 0000000000000000 x4 : 0000000000000001 x3 : ffff80008159e008 x2 : 0000000000000000 x1 : 0000000000000000 x0 : 0000000000000000 Call trace: drm_connector_cleanup+0x78/0x2d4 [drm] lt8912_bridge_detach+0x54/0x6c [lontium_lt8912b] drm_bridge_detach+0x44/0x84 [drm] drm_encoder_cleanup+0x40/0xb8 [drm] drmm_encoder_alloc_release+0x1c/0x30 [drm] drm_managed_release+0xac/0x148 [drm] drm_dev_put.part.0+0x88/0xb8 [drm] devm_drm_dev_init_release+0x14/0x24 [drm] devm_action_release+0x14/0x20 release_nodes+0x5c/0x90 devres_release_all+0x8c/0xe0 device_unbind_cleanup+0x18/0x68 device_release_driver_internal+0x208/0x23c driver_detach+0x4c/0x94 bus_remove_driver+0x70/0xf4 driver_unregister+0x30/0x60 platform_driver_unregister+0x14/0x20 tidss_platform_driver_exit+0x18/0xb2c [tidss] __arm64_sys_delete_module+0x1a0/0x2b4 invoke_syscall+0x48/0x110 el0_svc_common.constprop.0+0x60/0x10c do_el0_svc_compat+0x1c/0x40 el0_svc_compat+0x40/0xac el0t_32_sync_handler+0xb0/0x138 el0t_32_sync+0x194/0x198 Code: 9104a276 f2fbd5b7 aa0203e1 91008af8 (f85c0420) Fixes: 30e2ae9 ("drm/bridge: Introduce LT8912B DSI to HDMI bridge") Signed-off-by: Tomi Valkeinen <tomi.valkeinen@ideasonboard.com> Reviewed-by: Robert Foss <rfoss@kernel.org> Signed-off-by: Robert Foss <rfoss@kernel.org> Link: https://patchwork.freedesktop.org/patch/msgid/20230804-lt8912b-v1-2-c542692c6a2f@ideasonboard.com Signed-off-by: Sasha Levin <sashal@kernel.org>
