Current plugin: https://github.com/floatinghotpot/cordova-plugin-nativeaudio

Alternatives:

HTML5: doesn't allow to play audio without user interaction? new Audio()...
Media plugin: requires more permissions? https://ionicframework.com/docs/native/media

Update: the beep seems to work only the first time the plugin is initialized?
