Now that GBIF are making links from occurrences to collections, in addition to the datasets they reside in, there is possibility for GBIF to explore citation tracking at collection level.

This has the caveat that we infer links to collection entities and therefore the accuracy of citation tracking could not be guaranteed. One idea could be to only track citations for datasets using institutions and collections identifiers (not just the code).

This issue exists to capture discussion around this topic and ideas for tracking collection level citations
