I found the problem, proton have changed their domain url from mail.protonl.com to mail.proton.me, is there a way to add that url to the plugin? |
I've done an update to the code so it has the correct domain now. |
That's OK, I used Chrome's developer mode to install the source unpacked, from #23 a post from vaindil, 3rd post from the top. I clicked on the chromium link, which downloaded a zip file, then all I had to do was to unzip it in it's own folder, enter chrome's developer mode, the in the extensions section, just click on 'Unpacked' button and it installed it with no problem.
and now it works.

You have to compile it, I can get you binaries if you don't know how...

What's needed is the actual single file that Chrome recognizes as an extension, I don't have any abilities to compile anything as I am not a programmer. |
Awesome, thanks! Works great.

@Scallywer I seem to be getting a warning on MS Edge v110.0.1
I'm able to use the extension but that message just seems to be a warning |
@Scallywer Why don't you publish the extension on Chrome web store or MS Edge Web Store? If the publishing fee on Chrome web store is a limiting factor, I'll be happy to sponsor that. |
@VirtualHorror It has to be refactored from the ground up to support Manifest v3 before it can be uploaded to any store. Sorry. |
Thanks not how chrome extensions work, at least these unpublished ones :) |
@Scallywer Any idea how unread count badge could be fixed? The notification when emails arrive works perfectly fine but unread count doesn't work. I have noticed that it updates the unread count only when the Chrome/MS Edge application is completely restarted |
@Scallywer Would I have to clear session every time the unread count doesn't work or just the first time and it should work after that? |
Well you clear it, then it stays fine until you get a new email. |
FYI, manifest 2 will be completely redundant sometime in 2023, by Google
chrome, and will no longer be supported for its extensions. Already when I
use developer mode in Chrome and load your unpacked extension, it gives me
the warning thus "Manifest version 2 is deprecated and support will be
removed in 2023, see https://developer.chrome.com/blog/mv2-transition/ for
more details'', when this support will be ended this year is anyone's
guess, but when it does, your extension will no longer work, unless it's
updated to use manifest 3, but as you said, "I have no time to do a
complete refractor", which means no more chrome extension for protonmail.

I do have a Chrome dev account but currently no time to do a complete
refactor, since this is not even my code orignialy.
Sorry.

I quote from Scallywer "It has to be refactored from the ground up to
support Manifest v3", no it doesn't, look at the link and there is a tool
to convert v2 manifest to v3:-
https://github.com/GoogleChromeLabs/extension-manifest-converter.
Google is your friend.

So, who is willing to publish the extension as FF Browser Add-On? |
Add-on for TorBrowser |
For some reason, the extension no longer logs in, even when I click on it and click on 'Open Protonmail', which is supposed to read the focused tab and auto login. bit it doesn't, and every time I click on that extension it keeps telling me to open proton mail and focus the tab to add the account. I tried uninstalling/removing the extension, I even tried it in incognito mode (allowed extension in incognito mode), and it just won't login anymore.
I'm using Windows 10 21H1 with Chrome Version 106.0.5249.103 (Official Build) (64-bit), I even tried it using MSEdge and still the same results. So now I have to use the Proton Mail bridge that they supply for use with MSOutlook/MS Mail.
It was working up until I noticed it not working 5 days ago.
