Connect your CartoDB Account to QGIS

After the QGIS plugin installation is completed, the CartoDB toolbox appears from the QGIS Web Toolbar.

  1. Click Add Connection

The Connection Manager dialog box appears.

  1. Select New from the Connection Manager

The Add CartoDB Connection options appear.

  1. Enter your CartoDB account settings:

API key and username

  • Type your CartoDB username
  • Enter (or paste) your CartoDB Api Key
  • Select Multiuser Account if you have an Enterprise account

Tip: Your CartoDB user name is the "Username" from your Account settings. See Your Account if you need help locating your account options in CartoDB. From the same documentation section, see API Key if you need help finding your CartoDB API key. You can copy your API key from your CartoDB account options, as shown in the following example.

  • Click Save

The Connection Manager shows your account credentials.

  1. Click Connect

The CartoDB plugin is connected to QGIS and all buttons from the CartoDB toolbox are enabled. You will see your CartoDB username, and avatar, from the QGIS Web Toolbar. You can start mapping!

You can add layers, upload layers, create a new map, define MetaSearch services, and open the Python Console from the CartoDB toolbox. Tip: You can also access the CartoDB plugin options from the Web menu in QGIS.
