Seeing as this is a "design change" in this PR, I'd like to gather some opinions on how to move forward with this format of stacktraces:

  • Axe this idea, preferring to stick to the normal Go stacktrace, which has the advantage of being parseable by tools like panicparse
  • Stick to smallStacktrace, and add an issue after this PR to have it used in many other stacktraces for GnoVM panics (since I find them to be the most dense and the ones that could most benefit from a better visual representation).

For the panic formatting, I vote for keeping the default Go language panic mechanism for the following reasons:

  1. It supports panicparse and other tools, as you said.
  2. Even if we use the current mechanism for this case, there will still be standard Go panics elsewhere. I prefer having a single mechanism.
