In the kanban board's default set of columns, the leftmost is named Uncategorized. Which is strange, because the convention is Backlog.

Is it possible to rename it?

Somewhat related to #13802.

I am rather for To Do instead. What do you think about that?

The convention in all agile boards is "Backlog", so if we must hardcode one name, that should be it.

But, I knew every person will have his own opinion, that's why I ask how to rename it to "Foo". ;-)

I guess the main issue is that the default category can't be renamed by the user as there is no configuration menu (the small dots are present only in the newly created columns… or 'board' as they are called even if I don't like that name so much #13802):

To me there is nothing special about this first column, the fact that it can't be renamed as a regular column just confuses the user for no reasons.

Even worse, to remove this column one must understand first that they need to make another column the default one… It would be better to simply consider the default column as a regular column and display an error message or whatever if one tries to remove the default column.

I'm not the only one who found "Set as default" after your answer))

I dont see why we should follow somewones (not even referenced) convention

you can always just create a bord called "backlock" and make it default ...

This should be reopened. The STANDARD in kanban is "backlog".

And obviously many users above agree.

I think the unconvienet here is the default board cannot be renamed or deleted. If we can allow that, users can rename it to any name they like.

Why is it needed? You can just set a custom board as the default one

I think lunny answered your question.

Why do you need to rename the default board?
Create a new one, name it the way you want, and set it as default - then the standard one disappears

I would be OK with let it overload via a setting

It is still an annoying problem, make it Backlog by default please, or let it be editable...

…29874)

On creation of an empty project (no template) a default board will be
created instead of falling back to the uneditable pseudo-board.

Every project now has to have exactly one default boards. As a
consequence, you cannot unset a board as default, instead you have to
set another board as default. Existing projects will be modified using a
cron job, additionally this check will run every midnight by default.

Deleting the default board is not allowed, you have to set another board
as default to do it.
