[FEATURE] [INPUT NEEDED]

About the PR

This Pull Request adds the Ithillid mutation race to be a selectable starting trait

Why's this needed?

This change allows for further creativity when making RP characters, and that those who wish to be a squid person do not need to rely on random mutation/genetics

(u)Yellow-Mushroom:
(*)Added new starting trait of "Squid", making the selected character into a squid person

…ecies "Ithillid" (Squid Person) although for a hefty price

Note:

Please think about the balance in this, four points is a hefty cost for anything, but it is so high due to the fact that they can breath in water and air with no problems. My solution to this, is if it is looked positively on, to make them only survive in water, and sprite and code out a fishbowl helmet that would need to be refilled occasionally.

I would only do that in the case of this not being approved though, as it does fit to the mutation for them to be incompetent as they are humans mutated into near squids so having to take multiple bad traits does fit in head lore wise

Please message me on discord @ Yellow #6461 for balance ideas about water breathing!!

Edit: gotten a lot of great ideas/recommendations about a rework for squid people, have a list of things I’m going to attempt to work on here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1-UfYb0zSWsrdBMm4Qffxo1glVv6QihLAw8p1VqrC-9U/view

I don't think that -4 points, or any amount of points really is enough to offset their ability to breathe water on watermaps. Sure, it's mostly useless on space maps, but it's not like you have to lock in squid on space maps to be able to be a squid on water maps.

Your solution is on the right track, making them only able to breathe water, but I think your proposed implementation is too limited. They should have to breathe liquid tanks like how humans can use air tanks (though we don't have handheld liquid tanks yet), not have a phony fishbowl object that doesn't rely on fluid systems.

I'd prefer to see substantial changes to squid-men before making them available for round start traits. Like needing to breathe some amount of water, not just any old liquid like they currently do. Add details to make them more colourful like I did to lizards a while ago. Give them some more negative effects when on land, such as changing movement speed, stamina, health, or whatever.

That’s what I was thinking of with the tanks and also colors, but also it doesn’t entirely fix the issue of balancing their water immunity. Because it wouldn’t be smart for anyone that will be dealing with water on water maps to not be a squid for the added bonuses of not needing air on those maps, and is much different than any other species change such as lizards or skeletons

Yeah... I really can't see a way to make it work well mechanically. Their core element is being able to breathe underwater, which is an enormous buff. It works fine as a random mutation in game, but it I don't think it works as a player choosable option in pre-game. Even if they did have more unique stuff.
