[Bug] Folders with specific naming become unnamed after scan

Describe the bug

The bug seems to appear with any folder that is named similary like this:

• 2020.06.05

Right now each folder with the above naming pattern will appear without any name/title, in both the web interface as well as in the Tachiyomi extension. Interestingly as long as a scan is in progress its name is visible and will remain visible (see screenshot below) until the scan is completed, after which it becomes unnamed.

Steps to reproduce

1. Name a folder like the example above (within an active library path).
2. Fill it with files so Komga will recognize the folder.
3. Run a scan for the library the folder is contained in.
   3.1. During the scan the folder name should be shown.
4. After the scan the folder name will be gone.

Expected behavior

Folders named with the above pattern to display their title/name.

Actual behavior

Folders which use the above naming style will not display their title/name.

It is most likely coming from metadata import, as Series name (defaulting to the folder name) will be overwritten by the tags contained in either the ComicInfo.xml file, or the EPUB metadata.

The Series tag will be used to overwrite the title of the Series. If multiple values are present, the most frequent value from all books will be used.

Can you check the ComicInfo.xml of the files for affected Series? There is probably an empty value for the Series tag.

I know CBZ files dated before 2019 do not have an ComicInfo.xml file.
Though everything after does have an ComicInfo.xml, most of them still don't have a value in their Series tag.

Meaning if most of them in any given folder do not have a Series value (or an empty one), Komga will treat that empty or absent value as the new title? Shouldn't Komga default to the folder name if such scenario is encountered?

Also if I understand correctly, that in order to get my folder name as the Series title back I'd have to disable the Series metadata import for the entire library, right? Though as a side effect I'd lose the ability to filter using genres, since genres are imported alongside the Series metadata (according to the above link).

With that in mind I'd either have to give up the ability to filter using genres, or having to modify most of my CBZ files so ComicInfo.xml contains the name of the folder as the Series title, so the metadata import will not write an empty value as the title. With a considerable large library the latter would take forever.

So with all that, what would you suggest?

I am adding code to ignore empty values in tags, that should solve your problem (i suppose this is your problem, your answers on empty tags should confirm my suspicions).

I threw a script together which checked for the Series tag in the ComicInfo files.

The CBZ files that do have a ComicInfo file all have the Series tag but only a few have a value set. Most of them have nothing set and look like your example above.

I am adding code to ignore empty values in tags, that should solve your problem (i suppose this is your problem, your answers on empty tags should confirm my suspicions).

Thanks for checking, and glad it's fixed.

Unfortunately for the ones already processed you can't restore automatically the folder name.

One solution is to remove the library or folders, scan, add them again and scan again.

If doing that is not possible then the api is available and offer edition, and will contain the original name.

Else manual edition is also possible.
