The Laravel framework is open-sourced software licensed under the MIT license.
- To run this on your system, clone the repository, or download the .zip file (if you download the zip file, remove the "-master" string).
- Open the directory where the files have been downloaded, and rename
.env.exampleto.env. - From the root, open a Command Prompt/Terminal window and execute the command
php artisan key:generate. - Copy the created key (format should be [base64:]). Copy everything in [].
- Locate the .env file in the root. On the line that looks like this:
APP_KEY=SomeRandomString, paste the generated key. It should look like this:APP_KEY=base64:<randomString>. - Save file (as
.env) - If everything is done properly, when you run
php artisan servefrom the root, you should get a message that the built-in Laravel web server has started at 'http://localhost:8000'.
