collect instances of brand confusion between GitHub and Gittip #539
Comments
The first time I talked to @clone1018 on Skype, he kept saying "GitHub" instead of "Gittip." |
Here's a dude who showed up in #gittip asking for Markdown help: https://botbot.me/freenode/gittip/1792557/ |

Was the prefix 'Git' in Gittip an intentional association with Git or GitHub? When I first heard of Gittip I assumed it was aimed at the GitHub audience and It's very hard to distance the two in my mind. Occasionally people assume Octopress is a product of GitHub because of their use of the 'Octo' prefix and I can imagine it has caused unnecessary confusion. Are you considering a name change? |
Wow that's quite an issue thread. What is the purpose of this issue then? A collection of misunderstandings to one day inspire you to rename? |
Something like that. :) I've noticed it often enough from people close to the project, even, that it seemed like it'd be interesting to track. |
I just did this again in IRC but botbot.me isn't in the channel to log right now. :-/ |
Pruning as open-ended and unactionable. |
