Add rendering for amenity=waste_basket

What you suggest as initial zoom level where it would appear? Humanitarian is using 18, but it is IMHO too early even on their map that is not displaying some other objects.

With recently introduced zoom level 19 maybe it would be reasonable to display it as small icon on this zoom level (and on higher ones that may appear in future).

Yes, with 19 scale will be fine.
I am agree that in the Humanitarian used large icon.

@NikolasHuan Why would you want waste_baskets on the map? What would be the use case? The fact that they are a popular tag is not good enough reason on its own, in my opinion.

I'm not sure if adding them is a good idea. I can't think of many situations in which having them is useful, and it would be yet another thing that clutters up the map, especially in urban areas.

I used Humanitarian layer with waste baskets as map source in petition to local government (obviously, the petition was about waste baskets). Though it is rather weird use case and I am not expecting that this happens frequently.

is this really difficult to imagine? You need it when they are a scarse
ressource and you have something to throw away, and you don't want to throw
it away "freely"
