Trinity AI is sponsoring Hack4Reno and pitching in to help.

They want to help organize the event day of and are interested in doing a workbook. We might need a few people to write tutorials for the workbook.

I'm thinking if we do a few basic ones:

  • First heroku app, perhaps a beginning Sinatra app? (Heroku may even be a sponsor)
  • Tropo app (tropo is a sponsor)

Other ideas?

  • Simplegeo app
  • Simple Twitter client

Keith, here are a few examples of the Salesforce.com workbooks. They are pretty extensive but I think just having a couple tutorials would be wonderful!

What subjects are you planning on doing video tutorials for?

Thank you

Good question, I think it will be ok if they cross over, it might even be good to do both so we can include a link to the videos in the workbook?

I was thinking about doing:

  • Simple Heroku/Sinatra
  • Intro to OAuth
  • API Happy Hour (quick peek at various APIs)

Good idea. I was thinking we'd only do an electronic format of it anyway -
like PDF/HTML.

I get with Pat and we'll brainstorm a short list too.

I'm going to be building out the workbook in this repo https://github.com/hack4reno/hack4reno-workbook if anyone wants to contribute. It is in a new repo so we can start issues/wiki around the workbook itself. We could even use the wiki and not the repo, or perhaps in the repo with Github:pages.

In the interest of time, I've closed a bunch of issues around sample code and tutorials and we can combine them in here.

Some ideas:

We unfortunately did not have time to build this out. This will be turned into a post-hackathon project so that we can send it to the participants and spectators who are interested in starting.

In the meantime, we will publish a list of tutorials and existing workbooks here:
