It can be depended on your setup, but it is not Home Assistant that is the limiting factor in this case. The recommendation still holds, we do not recommend using a direct device like that.

Thank you. I am on version 2021.5.5 and I see that it is working again, as things are loading in /dev/serial/by-id/ . This was not true in 2021.5.1. I'm glad things are working as intended again!
