Weirdly, the index wasn't necessary locally, and was in production (not
sure why). Maybe related to https://jira.mongodb.org/browse/SERVER-19507
and
https://stackoverflow.com/questions/36006208/mongodb-distinct-with-query-doesnt-use-indexes.
