The standard process of echelle spectrum reduction consists of the following steps (Horne 1986).

  1. Error estimation
  • produce the variance image
  1. Aperture tracing
  • trace all orders available
  1. Profile modeling
  • model flat image assuming continuity
  1. Sensitivity correction
  • correct the sensitivity variations of CCD pixels
  1. Optimal extraction
  • produce the optimal estimation of 1D spectrum
