Required for all PRs:

  • Updated associated README.md.
  • Wrote appropriate unit tests.
  • Pull request title or commits are in conventional commit format (e.g. feat: or fix:)

resolves #8886

Switches to only using the AWS SDK v2 instead of parts with v1 and parts with v2. This is beneficial as it means we don't need to pull in the entire AWS SDK when we're only using ~10 services from it. We can just pull in dependencies for the parts we need.

Migration status: Complete!

Hi Alex, do you think we need to wait for harlow/kinesis-consumer to update? Since we already use both v1 and v2 maybe switching all but kinesis now is ok.

We could open a new issue to remind us to update kinesis when harlow is updated.

I think it's probably fine keeping all the v2 updates in one PR since harlow/kinesis-consumer looks to be close to done updating. I've just updated the kinesis_consumer plugin to use the development branch, and it's looking good.

Thanks for putting this together! Those type changes are interesting, but confirmed looking at the AWS library. I've gone through the updates and I think this keeps the current outputs the same.
