@alanshaw sorry for the delay, just finished moving and I'm starting classes this week. I have made some progress but I'm still learning js-ipfs internals. Feel free to reopen this if it needs to get done within a few days

@alanshaw it looks like the logic for changing the stats data to human readable format should be written in https://github.com/ipfs/js-ipfs-repo/blob/master/src/index.js inside the if block on line 314. I believe this ticket should get moved to that repo, unless I am missing something.
