wifi firmware missing

use android phone with usb tether, connected to local wifi

mac mini wifi notes

follow the steps from https://wiki.debian.org/wl to install wifi firmware, e.g. Broadcom BCM4331 firmware

look for wireless interface: ip a, e.g. wlp2s0

add wlp2s0 to Wicd Network Manager wireless interface

audio connection "unplugged"

$ pulseaudio -k

or

$ xrandr --props
$ ...
$ HDMI1 connected ...
$ ...
$ xrandr --output HDMI1 --auto --set "audio" on

download debian non-free iso e.g. amd64

write iso to usb flash memory

find usb flash memory device: e.g. /dev/sdb
# lsblk 
write iso to flash memory device
# dd if=firmware-10.4.0-amd64-netinst.iso of=/dev/sdb status=progress && sync
or
# cp firmware-10.4.0-amd64-netinst.iso /dev/sdb
