Overview

How can technologies enable citizens to have an active role in research?

ACR is an audio based communication system that aims to initiate engagements between older citizens and researchers. It responds to Newcastle University’s and Open Lab’s civic engagement agenda. Older citizens are matched to researchers based on their skills with the vision that ACR will mediate the initial steps of integrating older citizens and their skills into a research team.

Two bespoke artefacts were created to explore this research question and based on previous design workshops undertaken with researchers and participants, which are illustrated below.
